A bird has perched about thirty inches from Zara and appears as if to think the screen will deter her if she decides to enjoy her lunch 'to go'.

If she leaps through the screen and nails the bird before falling the few feet below... I'll send pictures before I go get her while laughing.

dangit, false alarm. Birb either figured it out or never noticed because wasn't the brightest bird and has flitted away somewhere.

I'm a little disappointed if I am honest. I don't particularly want my kitty to be embarrassed, but if she opts to ruin my screen - I think it's okay to laugh a little.

This is a quirky and fun song that apparently is atypical of the artist and tells a unique story.

The song's lyrics contain various perspectives about love and relationships, and is, according to Mishra, a "flip" of Lew Stone vocalist Al Bowlly's original "anti-woman" theme. Regarding the song's concept and the perspective of which it is sang from, Mishra said "When you love somebody, it's not logical, it's not rational, and you think, 'This is ridiculous, I can never be with you, I can never be the person you need, why am I even feeling these feelings?' So, I was trying to write from all these different sides… I wanted people to go, 'this is catchy,' and sing it, but then be like, 'What the hell?' at the same time".

I think they hit the mark personally. I really like the song and find myself enjoying it but it is a touch unique in sound and lyrics.

@LikeItOrLumpIt There are moments in my day when I am not quite sure if anyone cares about whats real anymore. There are times throughout this grand experience that I feel the heaviness of society against me.

In those times I look to the fun, the funny, and the sincere. Mr. Rogers shared long ago that we should look to the helpers, and I find you to comfortably in that realm. So thank you.

@Mrfunkedude has asked that we find and appreciate someone on his birthday, be a co-worker, partner, child or a neighbor. Annie, I consider you a neighbor of this fediverse, and a co-worker on the side of good.

It's like the special sweet spot when the universe just aligns properly, right? A few weeks ago I was filling my car up with gas and had a similar situation. The pump ended on a whole number and when the gas handle clicked, something inside me did too in a most delightful way.

When colonies are small they are nervous. Here is the young queen and her 23 daughters are gathered close to her frozen in fear as I feed them and collect the little trash pile they made. When their numbers pass some tipping point they will stop cowering like this and grow bold. I wonder how each ant decides if she should be brave or hide? how do they know the size of their colony?

@futurebird I want to understand what I am seeing. So, you have made a new nest or enclosure and they are repopulating it. Because it's an enclosure you need to move refuse out and food in. During that process, all the ants gather around the queen to protect her or are they seeking her out for instruction/orders?

When they cower, in my mind it visualizes more human or canine, with them lowered their heads and looking away from you. That doesn't sound... right?

Such neat mannerisms. I'm curious if it's ubiquitous among ant kind? Perhaps certain groups have a higher/lower tolerance to what equated to "large enough"?

@StillIRise1963 it was a lot! I mean, I am a pescatarian so Red Lobster is like...my Vegas buffet. I can eat almost everything!!

But seriously, it wasn't the retail market. It was the shares and stock stuff behind the scenes. GameStop is having interesting stock activities again too. Older systems are struggling to maintain relevance around younger systems and bad actors.

@StillIRise1963 I warned people to look at the markets over the next few months. There are a lot of things happening that shouldn't. In the next few months there will be a lot fewer solvent people than there were before.

I am fairly confident there are a tremendous amount of very shitty people out there trying to take financial advantage of this chaos. They are going to have some serious problems once he and the rest of the MAGA leadership cash out.

I'm hopeful it happens before the election.

Do birds have a sense of smell?

I ask because I swear a little tiny bird just landed on a branch outside my window and scared itself.

I am writing by an open window and enjoying the breeze and the sun light as it streams in. I have a giant tree that overshadows the window, I think it's called a spruce tree. I love the way it smells and looks it is amazing and a key feature of the purchase.

So this little bird sits on a branch for about half a second and then chirped a sharp and loud chirp and absolutely flapped birdy wings straight away from the window.

I am laughing imagining the bird landing to see what was going on inside that house and getting a wiff of giant swamp panther and just absolutely losing his little birdy mind in panic and fear to dash away.

Anybody here into archery? I’m thinking of taking it up and wouldn’t mind some pointers for a beginner. No hunting, only targets for fun & exercise. Considering a recurve with 30-40 lbs draw. Anything beyond that, I’m clueless. Planning a trip to a semi-local archery shop that has a good reputation. Advice?
