@ejabberd My my most wanted feature for ejabberd: 1) Reliably handling of server 2 server connections with dyn IP servers 2) Reliable group chats when server restarts. #xmpp #ejabberd

@ulfi @ejabberd This. My chat server for my family is in my apartment and changes IP address sometimes which has resulted in lost messages because s2s links do not have the same precautions (XEP-0198) like c2s links. Sadly, only @prosodyim implements XEP-0198 for s2s links as of today and it takes two to tango.

I haven't had any lost messages since enabling mod_s2s_keepalive, but graceful handling of unstable s2s links could mean more people being able to host small XMPP servers at home.

It is really cheaper to use a home server instead of a VPS?
I would expect that a VPS should be cheaper.

@eversten @lobi @ulfi @ejabberd @prosodyim I calculated that I need to run my home server for ~3 years to break even with VPS. + My data is physically in my home and I have much more RAM. The only downside really is the unstable internet connection and electricity supply.
