@ai6yr@kc2ihx I had one but never liked FM sats and it's great for the linear birds but has a nasty birdy for some? all? of the FM birds 😞 Just depends on what you want to do.
@bud_t@ai6yr for sure it is. I think this is just a coy way to list it under the normal manufacturer price point, probably skirting some sort of regulation. I'm semi-interested, but can't decide if I should really buy a new radio right now...
The radio is kind of interesting, but it draws 1.2A on RX! And no built in ATU. So I'm not sure it is worth it to me, even at the deeply discounted price.
Besides, I already have a 706MkIIG, I don't think there are any D-STAR systems I can hit from my shack, and that angled head unit just looks difficult to mount in my vehicle.
But I'd really love to see a new radios in the "DC to daylight" mobile sector.
@bud_t@kc2ihx@N9DRB I haven't spent that much on a ham radio yet, so don't intend to do so, but it is a good price if you're looking for an all band in the car/shack.
