Advertisements has gotten so bad...

Okay so I'm just getting myself into streaming sticks. I bought one from Wal-Mart, the $15 2K FHD ONN Stick and not a few days later, I got a $3 Amazon 4K Fire Stick for while thrifting.

And I get the appeal, I love the idea! Sitting comfortably in your lounger watching these things just through your internet. You don't have to pay another monthly fee for cable, it's awesome.

That is, until you feel the claustrophobic feeling of entrapment, that you are at the mercy of advertisements and holy fuck have they gotten obnoxious. My desktop is ad-free, I don't see a damn thing where I surf or what I watch. My phone is ad-free because I don't get a lot of apps that market to me and I make sure of it.

But these streaming sticks, as awesome as they are, fucking hell. There's only so few things you can do with them. I can't root the Fire stick that I have and I'm going to soon root the ONN one at least and even if I did that, I've only got one option available and that's with AdGuard if I load it up and I can only hope AdGuard is as good as UBlock or otherwise I'm SOL.

I was trying to watch a darts match highlight video of 13 minutes on YouTube. It began with a Chewy advert of 24 seconds and I'm thinking "all right, okay, I don't give a fuck, I don't even have a pet anyways...". I let it run out and skipped the next bullshit ad. The video resumes and not 15 seconds later, ANOTHER fucking ad comes up and this one is ANOTHER 30 seconds and I can't skip this one until it's over.

For a while, I felt totally justified in threatening a marketer's life. Because they're the motherfuckers who've spent decades of their free time, thinking of ways in how they can just take seconds, minutes and even hours (piled up, not literally) of our time to watch all of these overly orchestrated commercials that they pay MILLIONS to produce instead of the fucking people that bother working for their companies.

Fucking hell.
