I recently had a dislocated shoulder, which is unfortunately a chronic issue for me. This time I went to an orthopedic doctor who chastised me that I should be wearing a sling. After wearing the sling, my back and neck were all janked. It was a mess. Now I'm sling-free and everything is getting better.

svenni,

@danielpunkass broke my left humerus pretty badly nearly 10 years ago, the worst part was the damn sling... my neck and shoulder were so messed up and sore.

linnefaulk,

@danielpunkass That is when I go to the chiropractor.

@danielpunkass I have a friend who had this issue, his shoulder dislocated constantly, even in his sleep. Only solution for him was surgery.

@ildave Yeah, that’s where I’m headed if physical therapy doesn’t help.

chrismclay,

@danielpunkass I have shoulder problems and the constant advice is to keep using it as much as I can. “Protecting it” by not using it will just make it worse.

I’m sure it’s a different issue, but getting mixed advice is always frustrating with chronic conditions.

@chrismclay Thanks! Yeah, I Think the "keep using it" advice applies here especially with no surgery. Hoping it will heal up well, and with exercises from PT I willl prevent it happening again!
