Looking for a 2021 or 2022 12.9” iPad Pro with Mini-LED (i.e., M1 or M2) with at least 256 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi is all that's needed (cell is ok, but not at a big premium as it won't be activated).
Anyone have such an item they are interested in selling?
(Helping a friend outside the States to receive and then ship to them.)
HomeKit question: my smart thermostat lost its Wi-Fi connection. When I try to add it back after deleting it from Home, I'm told it's still IN Home. Thoughts? I have rebooted my Apple TV. Some other HomeKit devices also seem lost while others are working. Is there a way to reset the HomeKit hub other than restarting the Apple TV that would clear the state problem?
@glennf when I have similar problems, I change the name of the 5GHz network temporarily, that way everyone can still use the 2.4. Once the device is connecting again. I move the 5GHz name back to match. Then wait a year or so for something to fail.
@danielpunkass if it’s at all true. Before any shows launched there was a lot of claims about Tim vetoing swearing, sex, violence, and all of it was false.
It’s sad to say goodbye to Daring Fireball after all these years, but I think John’s been spending far too long in his own little world.
His value as a pundit has waned in the last few years, to being almost pointless. This post is just deliberately missing the point and is offensive to half the world.
I recently had a dislocated shoulder, which is unfortunately a chronic issue for me. This time I went to an orthopedic doctor who chastised me that I should be wearing a sling. After wearing the sling, my back and neck were all janked. It was a mess. Now I'm sling-free and everything is getting better.
@danielpunkass I have shoulder problems and the constant advice is to keep using it as much as I can. “Protecting it” by not using it will just make it worse.
I’m sure it’s a different issue, but getting mixed advice is always frustrating with chronic conditions.
New boots, with a fresh scuff, look awful. They look very different after they’ve collected lots of sweat and dirt and age. You can’t buy a leather boots and age them in a day, (without a lot of work and skill.)
I’m not saying fine woven will look great, but perhaps it was designed to be treated with more care, like people treat leather, rather than just a carbon footprint compromise.
Playing around with Safari Web Apps on the macOS Sonoma beta. It would be super cool if there were an advanced capability to add injected JavaScript to the resulting web page. I'd like to fine tune the interface of some sites. Looking at you, Wordle...
