@4CPcomics it's fun timing for the post bc I'm finally going thru and pulling together my fav jam segments of that year plus some other highlights. My general take is that, 6.9 aside, the June tour improves as it goes and I wish we had better/more complete tape of fall, bc it's a very creative tour. June is spent honing songs and combos (HSF, PITB/wheel, Stephen/NFA) & then fall deconstructs that & plays with cool segues and quick jamlets. Would love a 7.13 upgrade for the perfect Crazy Fingers
@4CPcomics like, the HSFs improve over the course of June, getting tighter and cooler with almost every version, with the last few takes being mostly excellent, approaching canonical. Then on fall tour thru NYE you get split Slipknots with other stuff in the middle. That difference is emblematic of the overall dynamic
too bad there's still no SBD upgrade on 8/2 though at least a couple of the AUDs are okay. Both those jams are among the coolest, especially the second one
@mrcompletely I played a '76 Dave's Picks on a drive to pick up a cousin from a distant train station and thought that it was boring as a show, and also that it would be interesting to take the vocals out of a bunch of 1976 material and create a long "sleepy Dead" (minimalist?) instrumental mix.
@mrcompletely@4CPcomics There is a lot of great stuff to mine from June 76. Not under the radar by any means but I have a soft spot for 6/14 and 6/15. The Slipknot from 6/14 is a winner.
