Why are batteries always specified in Ampere hours? Isn’t that a bit meaningless unless their voltage is also given?

yschaeff,

@partim It makes perfect sense as a measure if you intent to drain all your batteries in exactly one hour.

@yschaeff Assuming they can actually deliver that current for an hour. For this 10 Ah powerbank I have, I’m not sure.

yschaeff,

@partim Ah! But that is where the even-more-so-confusing and even-more-so-not-specified C-rating is for!

@yschaeff It’s like they are doing this on purpose.

yschaeff,

@partim Here is a 'fun' challenge. Find on the duracell website what the total energy is of their akaline AA battery. "20% better than the competition" doesn't count. It is not so much I find Ah confusing but rather the lack thereof infuriating.

@yschaeff For AA batteries Ah is fine – you know that they are 1.5V (-ish). I suppose I should know what voltage USB-C is using, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if that were negotiable.
