What if we simply fired all everyone over the rank of Department Head and put the professors in charge? Sorta like a law practice, you make Partner, you start making executive decisions. Start paying postdocs and the humble scut workers what they're worth and get back to the business of education.
Anything that gets MBAs and any corporate scumbag who ever said "we need to run X like a business" completely out of anything involving education is a good start.
