Where do you guys get your design inspiration from these days? Iā€™m especially interested in and design. I used to use Dribbble a lot in the past, but it seems to have shifted towards illustrative content and thereā€™s just a lot to sift through before finding something in my niche. šŸ¤”

I'm trying out a new terminal (Alacritty). My previous terminal (Warp) would update too frequently (sometimes multiple times a day) requiring a restart. And to make that extra annoying the restarted window would create a duplicate icon in my dock. It was minor annoyances that added up. Also it had features I couldn't disable and did not use or have any interest in using (AI crap). I just finished my config and am pretty happy with how it's looking so far.

I know I should probably watch some Google I/O videos but I just do not care about AI in the slightest and I know it's a huge topic this year. Sometimes I wonder if I'm on the wrong career path šŸ¤” Could also just be burnout though, hard to say.

Thereā€™s a couple interesting summary articles on certain topics (like running on-device models in the browser to add privacy respecting ā€žAIā€œ features to apps), but if you donā€™t care about AI at all, thereā€™s not much else. šŸ˜…

My #iPhone is barely half a year old and already the haptic motor seems to be failing? šŸ˜³ Thereā€™s a sharp clicking sound / rap on the back of my phone on some vibrations. Seems unrelatedly the actual strength of the haptic feedback and only happens about once in every three or four vibrations, but itā€™s concerning.

I guess Iā€™ll have to have it checked out. šŸ™„

You can turn off the ā€œx packages are looking for fundingā€ messages that get logged with each npm install by setting

fund = false

in your projectā€™s or userā€™s npmrc file.

I remember a time when I was excited about , but for a few years now, itā€™s always felt like a drawn out death rattle with repeating information, cringe jokes and performances, and innovation that feels like itā€™s trying very hard to convince people of its usefulness when actually itā€™s just empty promises. šŸ˜…

@billy I can understand the sentiment! I feel like these days weā€™re 95% there for 80% of use-cases, at least on Android (Safari keeps getting better, but is still a mess).

It can be very frustrating when something like notification scheduling is missing (there even was an origin trial for it in Chrome a while ago, sadly the feature got dropped), but personally, I still think web apps are the future.

For me at least, the benefits still outweigh the issues. šŸ˜Š

@billy yeah cross-platform-ness is a big reason I like the web. I feel like itā€™s the only true way to offer something on almost any platform from the same code base. Plus, using HTML and CSS for UIs just feels right to me. šŸ˜…

That being said, I havenā€™t done much native development, so I canā€™t really say how things are going on that front.

We're back to my recurring nightmare of making it easy for a non-technical client to edit a static website generated using .

Are there any good solutions? Or am I going to end up writing my own solution after many painful hours with other people's janky solutions?

If you know of a non-technical user successfully editing a static website, how are they doing it?

EDIT: I'll only use open source solutions I can self-host, but happy to hear about proprietary options.

iPadOS needs to improve the experience on that OS, I found it useless having that product. I donā€™t know if Iā€™m wrong but itā€™s just my opinion.

@gabopsd exactly. I have a Pro and a Mini and I hardly ever use the Pro because other than drawing, I canā€™t do anything on it I couldnā€™t do on the Mini (which ends up being reading most of the time, for which the Mini is just the better form factor). šŸ˜…

I really wish websites would stop automatically showing me an AI translated version of their content. Yes, my OS is set to German, but that doesnā€™t mean I want to read technical content in German as well, especially when itā€™s obviously badly translated by a LLM. šŸ˜’

@vdvestelle I use @IceCubesApp on iOS because itā€™s the closest to @megalodon on Android that I could find. Both apps are incredibly polished and allow for some useful customisation like making bookmarks more accessible. šŸ˜Š

I also enjoy @elk and @phanpy (because I love PWAs) but unfortunately they canā€™t remember my scroll position yet (let alone sync it) which is really important for me. šŸ˜Š

RSS isn't dead ā€” quite the opposite! The best thing you can do is curate our list and make a feed to your website easily explorable.

AI pollution on the web is a real thing, and social media platforms are full of ads and tracking scripts. YouTube is full of artificially generated videos with thumbnails with shocked faces. Even books on Amazon! Books written and illustrated by robots. Can you believe this shit is legal šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
