Sunday, I’m driving home from visiting a friend’s farm. I realize my car is making a scraping noise. Nothing alarming but concerning.

I drove another mile until I could find a place to pull off that couldn’t be misinterpreted by some overly twitchy honkie as “stranger danger.”

Car could have been on fire & I would have done the same.

Turned out a stick had gotten wedged in the wheel well. Ten seconds and fixed. But fuck if I was going to risk getting capped for it.

So I recently changed one of my iCloud passwords. You know the way you normally get macOS/i(Pad)OS suggesting a strong password?

Didn’t happen which is kind of funny in the “cobbler’s children have no shoes”

Anyway, that was kind of dumb.

So if I’m reading this correctly, Adobe has identified “Adobe Creative Cloud” as the problem I need to resolve.

Seems like removing it would be the solution, no? Aside from not stating what the issue is, there’s a double space after one of the periods, and the protocol listed is not secure (http vs. https).

@tantramar I never was a reflexive Adobe hater. When they do shit that’s fucked up, I try to get them to fix it.

going to be doing 2 sessions at psumac 2023. The first one is an expansion of my jnuc session, powershell on macOS, this time with demos!

the second one, Be Not Superman, Be Batman is about getting away from the “OUR HERO SAVES THE DAY" mindset in IT, and rather building your systems and procedures so they are boring, reliable, and resilient. It's session on how you think about your networks and servers and services and endpoints so they don't need saving in the first place.

If you, as a honkie, are going to ask Black people to provide you with information/receipts/a reading list so you don’t have to do any work beyond clicking a link to learn about racism in <thing>, the least your lazy fuckalicious ass can do is offer to pay them.

    There are many different sides to the "Dave Debate"

    Should people named Dave exist? Should they have rights? Are they people at all?

    I'm not anti-Dave, in fact I am a great supporter of Daves. I just think we need to ask some questions. But if you ask these questions people get so mad.

    Shouldn't we at least have a sober reasonable discussion? What's wrong with that?

    So there's been a Bluesky vs. Masto convo in my mentions for the last couple of days, and it's made something very clear.

    White men have this strange loyalty to Mastodon but not a better fedi itself. And they project this loyalty onto anyone that even considers Bluesky, no matter what cultural background they come from.

    I have my own reasons for not considering Bluesky, but there's this nasty implication that Black and Brown people should be grateful for Masto despite the fact people loyal to that project have repeatedly run us off with no remorse.

    This massive cultural gulf is at the core of why the fedi can't get out of its way and be the next evolution on public social media.

    There's enough room here for everyone to have their communities, but the willful ignorance that often leads this discussion and projects in the fedi has us running in circles.

    @thriveth @Are0h have you perhaps thought of going into listen-only mode with Black folks on mastodon. Try it. For the next 30 days, actively seek and find Black people to follow on mastodon, but don’t reply.

    Just listen. Just read. Take in what they are saying for 30 days.
