This year’s WWDC may be the most important for Apple in many years. They haven’t found themselves behind the competition very often in over a decade. However, they are grossly behind with Siri. So far behind that if there is not demonstrable improvement (that is in the realm of magic) they may need to rename their voice assistant in the future and several executive’s jobs could be at risk.

@simon The icon on the lower right was a new voice mode, and the answers were clearly from the new model. I'm unsure if the voice was new, I hadn't used voice at all with ChatGPT prior. Now the icon is switched back and only text really works (though it will transcribe my voice, but so does iOS).

@simon something else I noticed during their demo, they always asked ChatGPT how they were. Even when they had already done so. Perhaps that was a queue to use the new model?

@gruber You'll appreciate this, or, you'll wish I hadn't sent this to you. In the HIG, Apple clearly states that primary buttons should be “on the trailing side”. Under Components > Menus and actions > Buttons, they include this image…

Do they do this just to confuse us? Or, am I misreading the HIG?

Yesterday I biked for 1h to meet this person who builds and collects movie replicas — loved hearing all the stories behind these props.

A collection of a bunch of lightsaber replicas. One of them was built for a competition to make what fans thought Rey’s lightsaber would look like in Rise of Skywalker, since the lightsaber was broken at the end of The Last Jedi. It’s made of half the original Graflex and half with parts from Rey’s staff. This design won the competition, and JJ Abrams saw it!

@matthewcassinelli Since they’ll never see replies, it'd be cool if clicking reply in Ivory could open the thread within the Threads app. I wonder if Shortcuts could do something like this.

@pfefferle @nathan I don't think you need to change it. I think Mastodon would need a more generic label (or an explanation) on their profile view since not all of the accounts are strictly Mastodon accounts. It is only slightly confusing because Mastodon isn't as old as your blog!

Anecdotally, I can tell you that mindshare in Flipboard among our customers is on the rise. Traffic from Flipboard to their sites is increasing, more people are talking about Flipboard in FB Groups and elsewhere, and some are interacting with it again when they hadn't in a while. Kudos to you and the entire team. 👏
