I so far have been really enjoying Helldivers 2 and definitely see myself continuing to play it for the foreseeable future. It also plays extremely well on Linux with no issues. Just install from steam and Play. I did use Proton-GE as I tend to have better performance with games using it but that was it.

I'm so glad Gaming on Linux has become so easy that now I can play games with most of my friends without issues.

@billiglarper yeah so far I had one single crash in my two total days playing and streaming. But to be fair my friends on Windows also had a crash or two.

@Amon_san It's actually a project I made when I moved to Mastodon because IFTTT and such didn't work. I have to enhance the code a bit as I want to dockerize it and eventually move it to an AWS Lambda. But it's on Github and you're more than welcome to use it and share the word. Mine runs off a raspberry Pi 3B+. I also have an automation to post when I star something to Github as well on that Pi to my Mastodon. https://github.com/ChiefGyk3D/twitch-and-toot

@Amon_san just know the docker version doesn't work... yet. I will get around to it before I work on the AWS Lambda.

@Amon_san it adds portability and another layer. Docker adds user space separation. So there are both practical and security reasons it does help benefit. Most of my things are bare metal as well but since working at my current job for the past year I have learned a lot coding quite a few things.

fucking hell, OBS on windows has been glitching lately. Just had to reboot the Windows 10 Enterprise device I use for streaming. Then my Stream deck wasn't working any way starting my twitch stream.

Can’t believe I spent $150 on new shoes my first time at REI as I needed some barefoot shoes for working out. Because literally working out barefoot is great until you go a mile or two on a treadmill and feel it for several days after. So I have my everyday 511 boots I wear everywhere including work they usually last 3 years per pair, and now I have shoes just for working out in the home gym. I’ve been wearing the same boot brand and series for almost 8 years now.

There is really only one brand of clothing I regularly wear. 511 brand pants, shorts, belts, and boots. Now adding REI to that after searching for new running shoes and their store kept coming up and I don’t like ordering shoes because sizing is weird. Like at 511 I’m a US 9.5 Wide but with REI and these new Altra shoes I’m a US 10 regular. But I do wonder if my feed got bigger since buying my 511 boots. I’m due for a new pair in winter so we shall see. I have to get new pants as I lost weight

I went from a US men’s size 40 pants to US men’s size 32 and currently wearing a size 36 with the belt as tight as it goes. So I have to get a new belt from 511 too as well as pants. What sucks is 511 ain’t cheap. Because these pants are meant to last. I think each pair of pants set me back $80, they’re the Stryke pants, but I also need new dress pants and at 511 those run like $50 if I recall.
I love 511 for the quality and the pockets can fit so much! Like 3 phones each pocket big!

Trying to reorganize the mess of a living room so I have a shelving unit to come in and throwing out one of the last hand me downs when I moved into my new house. There’s a table that’s never really fit the style and size of the rooms but was a makeshift dining table which has been reduced to a junk table. Then moving one of the IKEA tables to becoming the dining table until I can get a proper dining set with new chairs.

@buzzyrobin @ErinRose awesome I can't wait to get a Tangara, unfortunately I think it won't arrive before I go to DEFCON or even when I plan to travel overseas a few months after. So I may have to settle for repairing/replacing my iPod Classic 5th gen for now.

I am so excited between this and @mntmn Pocket Reform to switch to more open source solutions.

Well, it's official. My posts ain't coming with me.

Oh well. I'll be sad that all that Fedi history will be eventually wiped away, but I am glad to be making the migration.

@BeAware yeah that’s one of the things that bites and why when I decided to return to mastodon (I was playing with it on and off for a few years) I decided to just make my own server from the start. I am fully expecting when I may migrate to AWS eventually away from Masto host the same thing will happen.

I am not exaggerating this:

I created a new hostname in DNS, then added it to my existing webserver config.

It was online for 3 seconds -- 3! -- before getting a 404 request for /.git/config.

If you're relying on obscurity to protect your services, get that right out your fool head today. You have about 3 seconds to get your act together.

@tek obscurity is never a consideration for security with me. I have a dozen domains and each gets hit often. I always at least require at minimum require key pairs to login, Fail2Ban, Port Scan Attack Detector, and I also rate limit SSH. This is my procedure before doing anything else regardless what the server does.

It's almost election season and I see so many people are finally waking up to the dilemma of consistently "voting for the lesser of two evils" has brought us. I said this in 2016 when I decided to not vote for Clinton or Trump, I said it again in 2020 when I decided not to vote for Biden or Trump.

Every single time I was derided and said, "lesser of two evils is still evil." Everyone said "settle for Biden." This is exactly what settling has brought us.

@stephanie I never said I didn't vote, I just don't vote along party lines. I've voted Libertarian, Green, Republican, Democrat, and Independent at various levels of government. I even vote in off year and local elections. I read all the issues and study every candidate.

I am usually faced with the argument of "but your candidate won't win." My rebuttle is always, "It's not about who wins, it's about who I agree with. Win or lose, I can stand tall with my vote."

My great uncle is passing away in hospice care. He asked to be able to pray and wrap tefillin for his last days. So I gave him my tallit and tefillin as well my siddur (prayer book). So this will be the first few days in a long time I won’t be wrapping tefillin myself. I’m not a very religious person but I do try at least to wrap tefillin and pray six days a week. I even take them to work with me and grab a huddle room.

Forgot to mention TikTok restored my live access after my appeal. Meanwhile I have yet to have any strikes on Twitch. I stream the exact same stuff on both, proving TikTok is the shittiest streaming platform. But unfortunately I barely have 1,000 followers on twitch and YouTube but I have 360K+ on TikTok so I have to keep pushing content there to farm it to my other platforms.

I still use Mastodon and Discord more than any other platform. I have 2X as many followers here as I did on Twitter

@sjosjo no offense but this is obvious to anyone who has worked in IT or Cybersecurity and has setup anything on the internet even before the fediverse was a thing.
