badnetmask, to terraform
@badnetmask@hachyderm.io avatar

Tech play of the day: I was able to figure out how to provision various instances using , being called from an playbook. Once they're up, Terraform outputs the IP addresses of the , and Ansible adds them to a dynamic in-memory inventory for further processing. Pretty neat and simple to do using this module: https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/collections/community/general/terraform_module.html

@badnetmask is this different from using dynamic inventory using tags?

dustinrue,
@dustinrue@chateaude.luxe avatar

@badnetmask oh, just wondering if there is an advantage to this. I have done it where, using terraform, I tag ec2 instances with say a role of db. Then I tell Ansible to assign roles to any machine it finds in the account with the tag role=db.

    @ryanhoulihan I read this at first as "as I land the plane" and I really thought maybe you shouldn't be doing that then.

    But really, I do agree there is no reason that thing can't operate offline

    You just know that someone who spends $3500 on a Vision Pro is going to complain about a productivity app that costs $10.

    Apple has themselves to blame for this.

    You can always tell the old-school Mac users from the newbies based on whether or not they quit applications entirely when done with an app or merely close the active window.

    I could not have messed up the fire temple more. Somehow I got to the bottom of death mountain without seeing my new goron buddy. I went straight to the temple and it was very confusing. I went through a large portion of the temple despite not having a key element. I could tell what needs to be done but it seemed like I had to find my pal. No, he was back at the initial drop point.

    dustinrue,
    @dustinrue@chateaude.luxe avatar

    That said. The initial steps of the temple were not very well telegraphed and I found myself needing to talk to goron man repeatedly to progress the level.

    In a previous Toot I asked "if you own the CD, is pirating the mp3 ok?" (Answer was yes).

    Here is a new one:

    If I own the book, is pirating the audiobook ok?

    dustinrue, (edited )
    @dustinrue@chateaude.luxe avatar

    @devxvda I said no because unlike a CD vs mp3 where the content is the same, the audiobook is a performance

    Drobo's been dead for years. The concept was always good but the implementation never lived up to it. That being said their hardware was always slick looking, would be cool if they released a JBOD firmware for those devices.

    One of the wonders are the "dead" files on the Linux server. After reboot gigabytes of data is freed. That data should not exist but it's still taking space.
