Has anyone else’s taste and sensitivity to certain spices changed as they’ve gotten older?
A few years ago, I started feeling nauseous by the smell of cooking garlic and now I can only have garlic if small amounts. I used to love it so it’s really strange.
Now it’s happening with cinnamon. Suddenly there is such a thing as too much cinnamon. I threw out a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch this weekend cause I can’t tolerate it all of a sudden?
@brandonwrites hmm. My wife has had certain things, she can't do black pepper anymore. And she realized no to raw onions, and almonds make her sick now. I think as we age, our tastes change and it's weird haha
I write notes to myself on my calendar for things on future days. Many times, they turn out to be really useful, and I totally would've forgotten to do whatever it was I wrote down. But other times, I have to try and figure out what the hell past me was talking about
@wendigo 😂 right?!? The weirdest one in recent memory was this one that went off every Sunday night for some reason. I seriously couldn't figure out why I would've set it. I just deleted it. hahaha
New Johnny Cash album coming out next month, it's based on these unreleased demos he did in 1993. Apparently they kept his vocal and guitar and some guys that used to play with him filled in the rest. It sounds GOOD, man.
Anyone here leant into the idea of a digital garden? Perhaps you tried it and found it wasn't for you? Would love to check some out.
I've become more and more enamored with this idea.
I'd do away with published dates and a chronological list (For the most part, I still need to consider RSS) and I'd remove any pressure that a post needs to be fully finished to post it.
I could tend to the digital garden over time and nurture older, incomplete posts... if I wanted.
@christian I definitely have, that's what I made https://oldtimeywebportal.neocities.org to be, just something that had a bunch of links I liked with a simple layout (ugh, reminds me, one of the links is dead, I need to weed my digital garden hahaha).
I've always kind of maintained a list of links like this for myself over the years and figured why not just put it up somewhere other people can find. 😂
But yeah. LOVE the idea. Hadn't heard it described that way until semi-recently, either.
@catnip@guffo yeah, I'm curious if in different places the laws are different, my wife stopped requesting about it because she figured they'd retaliate. You can't have HR or whatever against you at a company, you'll have a bad time. It's bs but it's reality
@guffo@catnip yeah, there are people who will downplay. She's diagnosed ADHD, semi recently. I don't know the laws here in the US, it probably differs state to state. Good to hear it's improved for you- with more education, people will get it more. There's so much info/connection on TikTok, strangely. haha
@catnip@guffo oh wow that's so cool! Yeah she's on TikTok and started seeing things, I mean, a psychologist/psychiatrist is one thing but then you really need someone who will focus on that. She's in her 30s, me, my 40s. But she found someone and they did the test, so she's official. Me, I just have this hardcore depression as far as I know. ha. But more good days than bad now.
A young developer who never used Windows 98 back in the day stumbled upon an introductory book on the operating system and posted his impressions on skimming it, which brought him joy. He wrote:
"I was also left with the impression that perhaps I would like more software to come with a physical manual."
@amoroso woww this is such a cool story! I trawl thrift shops for finds like this too 🤣 and now have a new one to look out for since 98 is (and will always be) my favorite Windows 🔥
@trendskater@Kitty@tomroberts hahaa you're so right about that SOUND. I of course dug STP and Nirvana too haha. 4 I never got to see love though save STP briefly.
