Post from @rabble on why he's chosen to use #Nostr and not #ActivityPub and the #Fediverse. He makes some compelling points. Personally I am not too worried about the server admin parts of his argument (I have enough control, even if I don't control the server), but I agree that this isn't ideal:

One thing I have not come across on Mastodon is an instant knee-jerk reaction to criticism of the platform — and there has been quite a bit — from onboarding complexities to consumer confusion over the ‘fediverse’ and more. I’m struck more by how Mastodon advocates want to build a better platform and make it easier for anyone who wants to join.

As you might have heard, WordPress & Tumblr are supposedly in the process of opening up to the fediverse & ActivityPub. E.g. even now a WordPress admin like @evanprodromou can choose to publish their articles to be viewed directly in your Mastodon feed.

I'm going to be exploring this a lot in my video, so I'd love to know how people feel about it down in the comments. Excited? Ambivalent? Annoyed? Let me know! 👇
