One of the shitter things about getting older is you go from collecting trading cards, & then youā€™re older and you start noticing how many of those ā€œin memoriamā€ cards you have from funeral homes.

There are only ~40 million Black people in the US. Population similar to Lagos state in Nigeria (the tiny red part).

There are ~250 million US white folk (~220 non-Hispanic white + ~30 million Hispanic white).

So Biden's "missing" 10% of Black men, is fewer than 2 million. Or less than 1% of white US population.šŸ¤”

White voters don't face the massive systemic voter suppression that Black voters do. So increasing white dem turnout is much easier.

So if your boy doesn't win, blame yourselves.

So, yesterday fam went to the Fuller Craft Museum to the ā€œThe Red Dressā€ exhibit on its last stop on this tour (it leaves the Fuller May 19th)

While we were there, thereā€™s an exhibit of works ā€œThe Button Manā€

For anyone unfamiliar with The Red Dress (originally called ā€œBaroccoā€), itā€™s an embroidery project that had people (mostly women) from all over the world, contribute embroidery and sewing to create a dress (ā€œ380 embroiderers, 51 countriesā€) if you want one garment to represent a snapshot of humanity ca. early 21st century this is about as close as youā€™re gonna get.

I would also totally wear this, but only in a hypothetical sense because I would be absolutely TERRIFIED of damaging something so many people put so much work into I wouldnā€™t be able to move.

And not because it weighs 40 pounds, Iā€™ve worn armor heavier than that lol.

Whatā€™s kind of great about this dress and why I called it a snapshot of humanity is that there are images taken from mythology, folklore, and ancestral heritage that hark back thousands of years and of course, there are hashtags and emoji.

For years, when online gaming, when someone said ā€œu mad?ā€ I often responded ā€œyes, but thatā€™s clinical, whatā€™s your point?ā€
Did they get it?

No but it entertained ME, AND Iā€™ve gotten a few pretty good laughs from rando teammates, so thatā€™s worthwhile.

I was excited to read this study until I got to the sample...all men. So while the headline generalizes the findings, they actually have no idea about how exercise changes saturated fat metabolism in women because they did not study women. When reading studies, always look at the sample. Even today women are being excluded from health studies.

Most grocery stores had signs stating that guns were not allowed and either you could go lock it in your car, or they would hold it at the information/customer service desk.

*open carry = you can have a gun as long as itā€™s plainly visible.

AZ mostly avoided that, but now itā€™s an ā€œunlicensed concealed carryā€ but that was after I left so no idea how that has played out in Real Life.

iā€™m trying to figure out if I wouldā€™ve slid that scene in a book, that maybe having it visually presented showed just how bad an idea it was.
I dunno.

My wife just mocked me for being upset about that, when I accept all the characters in ā€œFalloutā€ somehow finding each other in the wasteland constantly.
And Iā€™m like, ā€œthatā€™s a standard handwavium trope.ā€ šŸ˜‚
