Just some simple things I miss about real cities. San Francisco feels like a very weird, hollowed out city on many fronts. I think if I see a bunch of kids at once in SF I’ll be like ‘wow’. Outside of certain SF neighborhoods (Chinatown, Mission, TL), the city just feels very homogenous and bland to me :/
@skinnylatte agreed there are many blah neighborhoods in SF. In addition to those you list, I’d add Duboce Triangle and Ingleside/Oceanview as other dynamic spots
@jackonskates I could smell the rain before it began to fall so luckily got my laundry and blankets in. just hope it lets up soon so I can put it back outside to dry 🤪
is it me or has the weather forecasting been less accurate over the past ~ month than normal?
@FlockOfCats@scoutie@jezebelkat@jackonskates the combo washer/dryer friends recommended to us is persnickety. washing works fine. drying cycle sometimes takes an hour, sometimes 4 hours. and the clothes are sometimes dampish.
Whenever I see someone go on about ‘digital nomad visas’ and ‘living somewhere cheaper’ I want to just yell ‘your privilege doesn’t translate to rights; none of this is real’
@skinnylatte some solid points. but of course it depends on locale and the actual work. there are plenty of countries that have created specific visa programs to entice DMs and I thought most DMs rent AirBnB
@skinnylatte I saw the changes coming to Portugal’s program. places like Bali and Barbados and even Costa Rica seem to be pulling back too.
but Spain seems to be trying to step into that void and introduced a new program for this year. and I remember reading that Paraguay and UAE added some beneficial features to their temp visa programs.
@FlockOfCats not an impassioned fan of durian. for me, it’s ok. but I really like durian ice cream. I can imagine liking dried durian. will be on the lookout for it
