My boss is very relaxed and as a result, my job is relaxed. He got promoted and we just hired a new manager to take his place and the new one is obviously eager to please management.

@shekinahcancook I’m trying to focus on public health / epidemiology as that’s what I’m getting my masters in. But yes, nearly everything has a geographical aspect to it!

@shekinahcancook it could be interesting for certain studies I think. My focus is on vector-borne disease, so lots of mosquito trap locations, etc. are used.

It appears my Tiger geocoder isn't working well. Points aren't even being geocoded to the same street. I've even used the address standardizer function before passing them into the geocoder but it doesn't help. The address standardizer output looks great, too!

Anyone have any ideas?

@shekinahcancook I remove specifics like suite number, so it's just street address, city, state, zip. It's as standardized as possible in my code so I think it's something to do with my PostGIS installation. Either way, I'm happy to pay the small amount to use an API.

Microsoft says it’s starting to test ads inside the Start menu on Windows 11.

“This will appear only for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel in the US and will not apply to commercial devices (devices managed by organizations),” says Microsoft in a blog post.

Um if they are “testing” it, then that means eventually they will deploy it to the masses.

@HopelessDemigod what the hell is the point in buying the OS if they’re going to force ads down your throat? I have to use it for some analytical software and I hate it.

@croyle @HopelessDemigod the invasion of ads into every aspect of our lives is driving me nuts. Just a day or two ago, I read about how Roku is planning on implementing ads when you pause a video, and now this. Truly disgusting how things are becoming.
