flexghost, @rlstone4dems no.
augieray, In the 13 months since the US ended the #COVID19 public health emergency on May 11, 2023, more Americans have been killed by COVID than died in the eight years of the Vietnam War (which was the US's fourth most deadly war following the Civil War, WW1 and WW2).
COVID deaths since May 11, 2023: 61,070
US deaths in Vietnam from 1965 to 1973: 58,281
MugsysRapSheet, @augieray
QUESTION: How many of those people were willfully unvaccinated thanks to Right Wing disinformation about the vaccines?
augieray, @MugsysRapSheet Roughly 40% vaccinated.
"During the first CHARM 2 visit, 31.8% (275/866) of participants had
226 completed the vaccination series. By the second visit, that increased to 82.9% (116/140)."
msh, Catching up on #Monsterdon now...It seems like the world is full of atom brains these days wonder how this will compare to reality
msh,
jbigham, did y'all vote for in the @sigchi elections?
realTuckFrumper, Ex-Trump insider asks how MAGA will cope when Biden 'cleans Trump's clock' in debates https://www.rawstory.com/biden-cleans-trumps-clock-in-debates-scaramucci/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon
bitsnpieces, @realTuckFrumper The moderators were biased. Trump actually won but the lame stream media is lying. Biden was incoherent. Shall I continue to tell you what you already know the reaction will be like?
Loukas, Many people vote because they think it will create the world they want to see. I don't think that. I vote just to momentarily smack the reins of state power out of the hands of fascists.

exchgr, today
isotopp, German Morgen, am 8. Juni 2024, hat PHP seinen 29. Geburtstag.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiYmjd9MYzE
und
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEA9FfYAmNg
isotopp, German Verwendet composer, verwendet Namespaces, verwendet Typen?
Migueldeicaza, Nothing brings me more joy than the conversion of the expression “bad dog” into the Spanish verb “badoguear”
pixel, @Migueldeicaza I have to remember this one
mcc, Wait so like… there's going to be a Windows 11 update that just removes WordPad? Like you have a program on your computer and Microsoft just straight up deletes it? https://www.spiceworks.com/tech/tech-general/news/goodbye-cortana-wordpad-tips-apps/
Dancer, @mcc Just like a bunch of older Windows updates removed pretty much any Microsoft app that was linked to their 2012 runtime libraries.
rotopenguin, @mcc everybody: remove Recall! We don't want this spyware!
Nadella: the people have spoken, I shall now remove the text editor.

danderson, Finally, I have defeated my own website and successfully posted something.
For your amusement, I humbly present: what the hell is PID 0?
niconiconi, "I’d love to go edit the Wikipedia article and set the record straight… But would that count as “primary research”?"
At least for Unix's historical behavior, there exists a very powerful source in your favor: A Commentary on the UNIX Operating System by John Lions. In particular, Section 8.3 Program Swapping (which is probably how the term "swapping" came into use on what's in fact a scheduler). John Lions was the authoritative textbook that taught everyone Unix back in the days, so using it as a supporting citation would be 100% unobjectionable. https://warsus.github.io/lions-/
danderson, @niconiconi Thank you! I wish search engines had thrown up these actually useful sources in my search. I appreciate you taking the time to teach me more about this :)
stux, Just a little reminder that here in Europe, we play the same exact video games as youth from the United States
We do not have (daily) school shootings however
Instead of blaming video games, start looking at the super easy to get weapons on each corner of street problem
Games are not the problem, weapons are 🇺🇸
apgarcia, @stux Actually the gun nuts like to say it's a mental health issue, until the time comes for funding. Then of course there is no money for it.
bynkii, @mekkaokereke @stux I own two guns. One is a deer rifle, the cheapest one I could get because diminishing returns and all. $300 for a 6.5mm Creedmor bolt-action from Savage. Good out to about 100m which is where all my deer hunting happens.
The second is about $250, a 9mm pistol, a Hi-point Yeet Cannon. About the cheapest pistol you can get, and honestly, I got it for the name. It’s accurate to maybe…20m
But two of the cheapest guns I could get new was $500 or so.
GryphonSK,
froyok, I wonder if anybody tried to use FXAA before doing display mapping BUT by still applying and reverting a curve ? 🤔
Aka:
1 - Switch from HDR to SDR
2 - Apply FXAA
3 - Switch back from SDR to HDR
4 - Apply regular post-process stuff
froyok, The bitmask stuff is working properly now, it's pretty cool to watch !
A video of my game engine showing the debug mode of my shadow bitmask system.
froyok, I also converted my cubemaps into octahedral projections to be able to store them in 2D arrays, with the goal of being able to sample multiple of them easily for blending.
That new format also allowed we to compress them into BC6H more easily.
