In one of my apps, I'd like to ensure that users are running with the latest version, and recommend an upgrade if they aren't. Is that type of "telemetry" OK? Code is #OpenSource so it'll be easy to verify that it only calls GitHub to compare current version vs last released. Conditions:
Nothing is "sent" other than a GET request to GH to get latest version.
No data is collected — I don't even run the server.

@GottaLaff I'm not entirely sure why we're all surprised at this. It's a zillion degrees in Vegas right now, and Trump's polling has taken a serious hit following his felony convictions.

I was born in the 80's. I have a plastic shopping bag stuffed with every plastic shopping bag I've acquired for the last 40 years. It was the only plastic from a grocery trip that WAS actually being reused.
I have literally moved my giant-target-store-plastic-bag-full-of-grocery-bags through 5 different places I've lived.
It may be the longest-lived physical object I've ever owned right alongside my plastic-tote-full-of-wires-and-connectors-going-so-far-back-that-there-are-VGA-cables and my cardboard-box-full-of-original-boxes-for-phones-and-accessories-I-don't-even-have-anymore.
@urda san diegos roads have gone to complete shit, so ive been trying to line up swapping out my current ride for a newer tacoma. ive never had a vehicle with any 'roomy inside', and i want a comfortable ride. im very much done with stickshift and tight suspension.
Dropped Midnight studio (left) and decided to read recaps instead. I actually soldiered on with Now, it's Showtime and I want my time back, even if I fast forwarded and skipped a lot of scenes 😅 Too many filler scenes, uneven story telling which didn't manage the comedy and angst well. And worse of all, boring 😅. With Midnight Studio I got bored by the 4th ep because I just knew where the story was going, and judging by the recaps I was right.
@SFRuminations Interesting! The variety of "source texts", especially - I've learned I enjoy epistolary storytelling, so I suppose piecing together these fragments to figure out what's going on must have a similar effect.
