I am just chattin with my pals about my favorite character and/or book Tom Bombadil which I have definitely, definitely read and know stuff about,
Amazon's asking the important questions about Tom Bombadil, a character notoriously not interested in getting involved or caring any about larger drama than getting lilies for his wife or singing a silly little tune or bringing hobbits over for dinner:
“We started thinking, What does he care about? And how can that be a doorway to drama?”
@checkervest They're not trying to make it work - they're trying to create hype so investors who believe "move fast & break things" includes killing people, of whom there are far, far too many, will be afraid to miss out.
All the lizards being out reminds me of the guy in my freshman geometry class who started every class out by unscrewing a plastic soda bottle with holes punched into it and releasing an anole who would climb up onto his shoulder. he'd then put his head down on his desk and sleep for the whole class while the lizard looked alert and faced the board. he aced every single test and we all decided the lizard took notes for him
This work of art is called “too many spiders” and it is going on my work cork board immediately, I love that this very small child has given me so many spider drawings
I commented on the small child's candy so he ran back to his dad's office, selected a Starburst, carefully unwrapped it, and brought it back to me. when I didn't immediately eat it he looked very concerned and pointed at his mouth and said eat with the most earnest concern in his voice it until I ate it
nothing riskier than accepting an unwrapped candy from a very small child but you know what sometimes you just have to live dangerously (and not disappoint a very small child)
A coworker set a giant envelope on my desk with 200+ stickers in it and told me I could pick any of them I wanted, but warned me that some of them were nasty but it wasn't his fault because he'd ordered them as a pack of random stickers on Amazon. I regret to inform you that I could not find any nasty ones
Watching a lot of old movies and reading a lot of detective novels as a kid definitely made me think I'd be doing a lot more with microfiche in my daily life

At the very end of Monty Python's Life of Brian instead of "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" This time around, Eric Idle, in their accent, starts with "Sooooommmmmeeeeeeeeebody once told me..." and then it eventually becomes a sing-along. And as the song ends, Eric raps over the fade-out, "You can do anything you set your mind to; just try harder next time! Believe in yourself!" Fade to credits.
