The palette of the city connect uniforms isn't bad, and I like the hat and the skyline, but the typography just turns them into a shitshow. At best it looks like someone tried to make a font based on the BONER 4EVER graffiti on the Beury building, out of masking tape.
@stumblewyk@baseball I didn't see the game in question, but agree anyway. Missed ball strike calls and makeup calls happen regularly because it is hard for humans to ump. Let technology do it.
@Chrisblue It was easy to think that when Hoskins was beating up on the Mets at the same time the Phils were getting pasted by Atlanta, but the article makes some good points, several more than my "Hoskins really only played first base and we can't carry two" note.
My wife was a Mets fan despite growing up in the Bronx. They're her second-place love now.
I saw one game at Shea when I lived in New York and working after graduation. (CCNY alum!) A coworker from Poland asked whether we'd see hooligans at a Mets-Marlins game and I told him it was unlikely.
But then someone walked past us wearing a Yankees jersey and the "Yankees suck!" chant went through the crowd....

He was quite useful for us in Toronto for the first 2/3 of last season, but brace yourself for some of the softest contact you've ever seen. He was much better in the OF than we expected.

Color: I get the blue + yellow color scheme comes from the city flag. Fine. The flag is ugly as sin, but I can see the connection there. Sure.
@stumblewyk That's not lighting, it's masking tape. The color scheme is the only thing vaguely right. Sure, put a bell in LOVE, but why does the V look like a U? The player names look like generic iron-on transfers.
We could only hope to get one as cool as the WSH cherry blossoms or Houston's NASA-inspured Space City gear, but we def deserved better than this.
My one hope is that this is an April Fool's troll and not a leak of the real thing.
