Well this is fun! I finally got my Apple Vision Pro in Glasgow, but it turns out it's not actually my Apple Vision Pro.

It's in the right box, but it's a 256GB model, not a 512GB, and the serial number of the device doesn't match my order. I have to assume that the store in San Francisco mixed up devices when they were packing them. And somebody in SF got a free upgrade to a 512GB one.

I suspect they would say “just bring it back”, but that's kinda hard now that I'm 5,000 miles away. Fuck.

Okay, picking up from my video game post yesterday, I'm curious:

When you play video games, rpgs, ect, where you get to choose your character, do you tend to choose a character of the same sex, the opposite sex, non-binary, anthropomorphic, or a mysterious 4th option?

If you want to share screenshots of character builds I would enjoy that!

@RickiTarr @lisamelton I despise the concept of choosing outfits for characters in games. I’m an old school, “just tell me what the character looks like,” guy.

But if I’m given a choice, I always pick the female character with the default look. My 8yo daughter commented last year that the woman is always the hero in every game I play and she’s always fighting against men.

And that’s why I do it.

  • 30 yrs of experience
  • out of work for 20 months
  • 3 kids, one of who is coming up on her first birthday
  • a track record for secure systems
  • a month left before being evicted

The worst thing about online learning is that everything has become a video. Every code tutorial. Every design tutorial. Nobody actually writes out a guide anymore.

It's just "hey guys welcome to my tutorial" and watching 10 minutes of content that mostly isn't relevant...

Was called by the school on Tuesday inform me that my youngest had been sick and needed to go home.

I picked him up, only to find later that evening that he was sick because he was “having a drinking contest with Caleb”.

He drank 750ml of water in one go (he’s 6)!

I asked if Caleb was sick too; he responded with:

“No, because I won.” 🤦‍♂️
