@glennf Did the brain worms cause his antivax position, or did the brain worms die after munching on the antivax part of his brain?

@bynkii Good luck! I've got an M1 iPad Air from 2022 that still seems perfectly fine. That landscape front-facing camera would be nice, but not enough to justify an upgrade.

Would someone loan me a bazillion dollars so I can bet on Tyson!? I’m good for it. 🤣

@KingShawn @bynkii @aulia For those of us of a certain age who saw Tyson fight in his prime, it's hard to imagine him losing even as a 60 year old. Dude was terrifying.

Apparently Apple Music for Mac has rabid fanbois (they are all men. All of them) and they are on Threads?! Of all the truly shitty products to stan, you want to defend Apple Music on the Mac?! I’ll defend Apple Music on iOS, even tho sync is a shit show, but on the desktop?! Man normies are weird.

waltman,

@film_girl I mean, the UI isn't great, but I'm used to it. The one thing Music for Mac has that the other apps don't is smart playlists, which I use all the time. My main one is a smart playlist that roughly emulates how the old “iTunes DJ” playlist used to work.

“Just over half of Amazon Fresh stores are equipped with Just Walk Out. The technology allows customers to skip checkout altogether by scanning a QR code when they enter the store. Though it seemed completely automated, Just Walk Out relied on more than 1,000 people in India watching and labeling videos to ensure accurate checkouts. The cashiers were simply moved off-site, and they watched you as you shopped.”

I know we've all decided as a society that we don't like phone calls anymore. And I get it. I don't make a lot of calls anymore either. But I've made a ton of calls over the past two days as I prepare to lease a new apartment. And it turns out that sometimes a phone call can be way more efficient than emails, texts, or poorly designed websites.

Being in New York is weird. It reminds me how much I like being in New York while simultaneously reminding me how nice it is to mostly not be in New York. It’s kinda quantum that way.

(It also reminds me how much my husband forgets how badly being in New York affects him despite his claims that it doesn’t)

waltman,

@wordshaper I’m also spending a lot of time in New York these days. I’m finding all that too, but mostly I’m finding that being in New York reminds me how much I like Philly. :)

I was watching some "why not launch rockets from airplanes?" and thought "hey, why not balloons? How hard could it be?"

And it turns out the answer's "not very!" A Falcon 9 rocket, fully loaded, weighs in at about 550,000kg. Hydrogen balloons get you about 1kg of lift per cubic meter, so mathing that out means we'd just have to hook the rocket up to a spherical balloon about 101m in diameter. Easy!

Time to put together a business plan and go looking for some sweet, sweet (stupid) VC cash...

waltman,
@waltman@hachyderm.io avatar

@wordshaper Launching a rocket in the vicinity of enough hydrogen to fill up a a 101m diameter balloon seems like it might be problematic. Isn't that more or less what happened to the Hindenberg?
