It sounds mental, and I suspect there’s a key piece of the puzzle missing for now which is cloud play.
I mean, that has to be the plan, right? They can’t possibly be releasing a £200 remote play solution just for people who want to play in bed or on the toilet… The market for IBS sufferers with a PS5 can’t be that big.
games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming, are not supported
but also says
Games that must be streamed on PS5 using a PS Plus Premium membership are not compatible
hopefully it can be hacked and reconfigured to be used with a PC, so i can get it for $50 when they will do the fire sale (i still regret not having bought the ps tv when they got rid for all the stock at 20 euro)
But PS5 streaming is in beta, PS3 and 4 streaming have been a thing for ages, and I can’t think for a minute that Sony are dumb enough to release a streaming only handheld that they don’t plan to connect to their cloud streaming services in the future.
Especially since the PS5 is unlikely to come down in price any time soon. Could be a decent way to get poor/casual gamers paying for a gaming subscription they’ll barely use.
Quite the jump from 199 but add another 140 dollars and you get a machine that handles Ps5 remote play, emulation, playing games locally and streaming from your PC. Sure the screen is worse but a Steam Deck is so much more value for money. This seems like a small return for quite a lot of money.
If this was written by the Devs it would seem to confirm that Deepened Pact stacking with Extra Attack is intended. Seems absolutely insane to me but what do I know.
In 5e I can take a level of warlock and at character level 5 the cantrip outdamages a heavy crossbow.
I can make a warlock 2 / bard 3 and both of their selected cantrips scale based on Character level.
You should absolutely be able to mix and match extra attack features. There isn't a reason, other than 3+ attacks is a primary fighter feature, that extra attacks shouldn't stack.
I thought I’d get plenty value out of extra, but I really haven’t this past year. Most of what’s on there I had already played, and new releases don’t really release on it. I still buy PS5 games to play them. Might just go on a month to month basis from now on.
When there was the anniversary sale or something in July I decided to upgrade my remaining like 450 day for idk, 35€? Simply because I wanted to play humanity, which cost 30€ already and the new ratchet and clank, which was also like 40€. So it was basically a no-brainer. I also knew it had Alan Wake which I wanted to play, the newer assassin’s creed games, namely origins and Odyssey I always wanted to play but haven’t done yet. Now on sale they are quite cheap anyways but really, this was a nice deal already.
When I found out what else there was to play on there, I was blown away. Death stranding, ghost of Tsushima, even miles morales. I also wanted to buy and play death stranding at some point, the other 2 weren’t really of much interest before; but having them for free, I might as well try them.
This far I only finished r&c and am playing Alan Wake and death stranding, while I uninstalled MP games, to focus myself on actually finishing all the games on my backlog.
Also this month this moving out game was added which I played with friends and it was absolutely hilarious.
Personally, I think I might just get 12months on top while it’s still the old price so I have some time left.
But the increase is steep indeed and it’s wild they’re doing that without any service change. Like ‘hey in return we’re promising an AAA game in every monthly catalog update and a AAA game in every second month of essential free games’
You still get the Russian roulette of maybe 1-2 actually good high quality games a year, 3-4 fun indies and the rest being mid af. For this price? It’s tough…
I’ve seen a post yesterday also about ps5 prices falling in a region, idk what it was anymore and honestly this sounded like a good strategy, business wise. Sell consoles cheaper again, but increase the membership prices to make up for it. Easier to get in for lots of people because they will think the console is cheap, to then be playing high yearly fees basically
I’m not going to renew mine at this price - it’s completely insane. Even the price for Essential is bonkers - 80 dollars per year just to play online and get access to cloud saves? What the hell are they smoking in Sony HQ?
Waste of money. Why not compete with the switch/steamdeck? Make the remote play an option like you’ve done in the past. A digital ps5 is $400 and the portal is $200. I’m paying $600 and can’t take the device anywhere. Steamdeck starts at $400 and the switch is $300. Hell, I can install remote play on the steam deck and do the same thing the portal does. Sucks this is how sony is getting back into “portable” gaming.
The steam deck is significantly more capable than the PS4. Jaguar's CPUs were absolute dogshit when they launched, let along compared to anything Ryzen.
The problem with a switch 2 is nvidia can't make competent CPUs.
also worth going further on library size. There’s twice as many steam deck verified games, than there are ps4 titles. Not counting any titles that work in steam deck but haven’t bothered to be verified.
The steam deck is significantly more capable than the PS4.
Not according to Digital Foundry. In real gaming performance and tuned to PS4-level settings, you’ll see framerates slightly higher than the PS4. Tuned to Xbox Series S settings, you’ll see framerates slightly below the Series S. And all of this is mostly only possible because the Steam Deck only needs to output 720p, which is easier for a GPU than the 900p-1080p that those comparable consoles are usually targeting.
The PS4 CPU was garbage, yes, but that usually didn’t matter because most console games are not very CPU-intensive.
I am more interested in that Blue Something, the one from Amazon and Bandai Namco, but the amount of time required for these free-to-play games is more than I can manage.
I would rather pay with my money, than spend so much extra time.
Edit: Which is not to say these games aren’t good. I would’ve gone mad with joy if I had this level of free-to-play games growing up. So, this is a great time for people who don’t want to spend too much on gaming.
Tunic is phenomenal and I cannot recommend it enough. It’s one of those experiences that I highly recommend going into blind. Even some of the smallest bits of info can ruin parts of the experience. If you’re into puzzle games that require some out of the box thinking, just give it a shot!
I’m too much of a miserable bastard to be willing to deal with the stupidity that happens in any kind of team based multiplayer game, but this is a cool feature to add.
