I did not tweet for years but I deleted and went to Firefish, it’s a much nicer design than Mastodon and I can just read Mastodon from it. Love the fediverse!
I found their website and it looks neat but I really wish open source projects would stop naming their stuff things that make them impossible to search.
Post.news is founded by former VC (2021) of Google, is a thinly veiled US propaganda outlet and (not) surprisingly has only Google and Post.news as login options. Any platform that restricts logins to Apple/Google/Facebook usually is a problematic NATO loving platform.
Not to say anything bad about Mastadon, I can’t say I’ve been there a whole lot.
But seeing the amount of twitter users going there kinda makes me not wanna go there. Gives me the impression that’s where Xwitter 2.0 is gonna happen.
Lemmy grad isn’t the platform lemmy it was a single instance. The other person was tryna say that mastodon is a platform like lemmy so while yes there’ll be instances like lemmy grad because mastodon is the platform and not the instance your instance can “block” or defederate the other one.
Facebook is a subsidiary of Meta. Google is a subsidiary of Alphabet. Twitter had an edgy X logo slapped on top of the peeling paint. TheyAreNotTheSame.meme
Mastodon still sits at king, but BlueSky, another federated platform (though currently not federation enabled) is shooting up the ranks. It might overtake Mastodon by next quarter at this rate. Then Q1 2024 they’re planning on opening up to federation and the floodgates will open.
