Play video games the way YOU want to and stop worrying about how other people play. This is a major problem in MMOs/Multiplayer games, I don’t know why we should open the door for people to be upset about someone else’s Singleplayer experience.
This might be a good thing all around. Bioware needs to focus on DA and ME, they need love and attention to not have another ME:A or Anthem.
In addition 3rd party studios are usually trying hard to prove themselves, depending on the relationship it could end up great. Fallout:NV of course is a great example of a studio handing IP over to a third party.
I must be one of the 10 people who liked Andromeda but I believe it was unjustly criticized. It is more bland that the Mass Effect trilogy but still a decent game.
Me too, I thought it was a fine game. It was not at the same level as the original trilogy - but I had a fun time in it. The story was fine, the worlds were a bit empty but fun, gameplay was fun. I put it on par if not a little better than an assassin's creed game.
I played ME:A all the way through and.. so much filler. Not a train wreck though, I tried to start another playthough and couldn't do it because while the engine was good when you scratched the surface, it was just surface.
For the record I love the mass-effection of Dragonage called Dragon Age 2 so I get it.
Yeah that's why I compare it to Assassin's Creed. It was fun, had a good time, I wouldn't put it on the top tier of my favorite games though. I think people should just judge it for what it was, a spinoff
I agree, BioWare does not need to be devoting its resources to SW:TOR at this point. It's been out for a good, long while and the fact is, MMORPGs are not big money-makers these days. There was a huge wave of them in the wake of WoW's success but none of them were able to achieve the kind of market success, player base or staying power of WoW. That ship has sailed, and it's only appropriate to let the BioWare devs get back to doing what they do best.
I don't have high hopes for the next Dragon Age game, but would love to be pleasantly surprised. They've changed directions so many times during the development of that game, so I'm expecting the end result to be a mess. Mass Effect gives me slightly more hope as a possible return to form for BioWare though, if they learn from Andromeda's missteps and focus on what made the original trilogy (particularly the first two games) great.
What have we even heard about DA4 yet? From my knowledge there have been 2 teaser trailers and a weird behind the scenes video, and just dead silence beyond that. I hope they're taking the time to just nail it. I've heard rumors that they think if they don't nail it that'll be it for Bioware and frankly.... kind of yeah.
I haven't seen anything solid, just the occasional story here and there about the changing vision of the game. It was originally intended to go hard on the multiplayer game-as-a-service model but EA backed down after Anthem and a couple of other failures. I think now, they're back on board with making the focus single-player? I'm not sure though, as nothing official has come out yet. Maybe we'll see something about it at Summer Games Fest in the near future.
I really want to see where they go with Mass Effect and I do hope they’ve learned from their mistakes. I actually think ME3 was better than 2 in a few respects right up until that terrible ending. ME:A turned out okay once they fixed the issues but it wasn’t the Mass Effect I was hoping for.
'member when we were able to self host servers of our games? I member. CoD4 was awesome because of that, later the pirated version of MW2 too. These games (the first MW and MW2) are still alive because of that.
IT'S ALMOST AS IF THERE IS A DEFINED SOCIOECONOMIC CLASS THAT'S SUCKING MONEY FROM THE ECONOMY
Less infighting, more eating of the rich. Pay the devs, not the landlords. The capitalism system is broken and breaking further. The cost of goods is defined by how much workers need to be paid to make it, and then multiplicatively inflated by how much greed that BILLIONAIRE CLASS wants.
Government is for the people, by the people, that's the ONLY reason it exists. People in, and that want to be the billionaire class have declared war on the rest of us, and it's the government's sole purpose to protect the well-being and will of the people.
The government MUST serve the people.
If it can't, the highest priority is it MUST be fixed immediately.
The longer we flail and wait, the more that obviously hostile class of people grow in power and make fixing this a more and more serious issue.
Like any good leader, if you are failing in your duties, you must self-correct, elect an adequate replacement, or you must be removed, by your own will or by force.
Because life-time is too precious to waste waiting for the conflict to come to a head and burst.
That hostile class is doing everything possible to prevent any of this. Calm down, diffuse, obfuscate, confuse, project, gaslight, lie, cheat, steal, destroy, and gain power to RULE above the-will-of-the-people: the government.
They "apologize" about "confusion" and "angst" that us stupid peasants have? That doesn't sound very apologetic to me. That sounds like they're doubling down.
Heck, this worse. We wouldn't lose massive amounts of money when posting on Reddit. This is about the existance and viability of development and companies.
Save scumming is the only way I can tolerate games like this. For as awesome as the game is (very awesome) sometimes consequences fall within the range of acceptability and sometimes they don't. When they don't, save scumming is what keeps me from putting the game down for good.
I try to think of it in terms of how it would go at a D&D session.
For example, if i roll perception well, seeing a tile is trapped, and tell the DM i avoid it, he's not going to have some NPC trigger it because i forgot to tell them to stop following me, so i feel justified in reloading a save in that case.
Lmao I often forget to unlock my party when dealing with traps only to have Shadowheart haphazardly wander right into the painfully obvious tripwire as the trap dice check is loading
I’m the first area with Withers I didn’t fully understand traps. I saw one and we avoided it then I turned off turn based mode. What I didn’t notice was the fireball traps on the walls. It was extremely confusing but hilarious watching it unfold. It wasn’t too big of a deal but I totally get what you mean. Even apart from that it’s annoying how they don’t just avoid ones other people saw.
Then they should state that in the Terms of Use, where they grant themselves permission to terminate if the “Account has been inactive for more than six months.” (Or better yet, remove the clause entirely.)
An email claim that they won’t enforce that clause does not make it okay.
This is the basis of the ASUS warranty issues recently when they had exploding AM5 motherboards and vague text about EXPO support voiding warranty, painting themselves into a corner when they only had unsupported firmware that would technically void warranty.
It doesn’t matter that the company says “Oh we won’t enforce that rule” but they still keep the rule in place.
Watch, they’ll just tell people to get the (very expensive) Adaptive Controller, never mind that won’t actually work for a lot of disabled folks.
I’ve only had one Xbox, a 360, ABC the only reason it didn’t turn into an expensive dust collector was I could get a third post controller that didn’t cause my thumb and fingers to dislocate, like the in the box controller did. Next generation, the decision of Xbox or PS4 was made FOR me by the company that made the controller I used going out of business. Accessibility really can, and does, make a difference in what console people get.
I thought it was more of a “no, I definitely don’t want to sell the rights of a movie. Well, I guess maybe if Ghibli approached me it’d be hard to say no, but otherwise…”
