Touched on this sense of discomfort and alienation with work I have, from the kafkaesque nature and disconnect between the work they do and the result, to feeling like a different person entirely and putting on a mask to conform.
In a way, it made me want to change this about myself and let me be more me, despite all signs in my life until then pointing to that being a bad idea.
Props to the writers for making this not only an interesting and dramatic story, but also a bit subversive to corporate work environments.
This show being an Apple TV show is kind of spicy. Dissociating people mind from job and personal life is laterally something I wouldn’t be surprised Apple would do (if it was possible ofc).
I did another more epic one the same day. Nearly 3 mins of this riffage with the delays and chorus used as my time-keeper. Was really proud of that, but can I get my orchestral instruments to line up/in key. Can I f*** 😅😅😅
I haven’t seen all of them yet (half way through season 2) but right now I’d say
William Campbell
In … The Squire of Gothos … and also appeared as Klingon Captain Koloth
His acting and persona is equal parts lovable and hateable … the kind of guy you could be friends with while also wanting to stay away from as much as possible.
The other guest actor that I felt the same about was
Not going to state the obvious with Ricardo Montalban, but I always enjoyed William Campbell’s Trelaine. And yeah, Windom was solid as Decker. Great episode all around.
Excluding the obvious choice of Jeffrey Combs as… well anyone really, I’m rather fond of Andreas Katsulas, though I may be partial to him for his phenomenal role as G’Kar on Babylon 5.
Not bad. Very much an homage to old slasher flicks. I didn’t even realize this is the movie to go with his trailer from Grindhouse. It’s been so long, I forgot about those trailers. It’s campy, over the top, and pretty fun. Definitely not without faults, but overall a decent time.
Once the killer is revealed, a lot of the previous scenes don’t really make sense. The cast is way too old to be playing high school kids, but they meshed well. I couldn’t stand anyone in the movie, and was rooting for the killer, though, lol. They are all pretty horrible people, outside of the main girl. The opening scene was kind of depressing for me, just a reminder of our consumer-based culture and the horrible people in it.
But I loved the kills. One felt a little mean spirited, but overall they were silly and way over the top. The ‘Baw-ston’ accents were cracking me up. Especially the Hanover kid. He must have gone to the Eli Roth ‘Inglourious Basterds’ school of Boston accents. It was just crazy. I wish it leaned a little more into the camp and silliness, but overall, I had fun.
Watched this with my mates tonight, what a fun movie. Some of the dialog, the dubbing of the henchmen that sounds like it was all done by the same person with slightly different voices, the fact that Joe tries to bang anything with a pulse. Lots of fun if you don’t take it seriously!
