Since the Starfield gameplay showcase, I've been really itching to download Fallout 4 again. I might be a minority, but I absolutely loved the combat in it. Are you playing with any mods?
So, everyone has been asking for Golden Sun for ages. For someone who knows nothing about them (other than watching the trailer above), anything I should know about them before starting them?
Don’t be afraid to backtrack when you learn new abilities, there’s a ton of stuff hidden everywhere, including things you can’t even see. Sometimes random NPC give you valuable information on how to progress or find a treasure.
If you get stuck, try to use your parties outside battle abilities, there certainly is a spot you missed.
Don’t mute the audio, the soundtrack is fantastic and addicting. Put it on loud.
The original games had a world map included each, I found it quite helpful to not get lost in the world map travel. You might want to find them online, best the original, even if it’s just a photo, as to not spoiler more than the original game did with it’s paper map. It just had you displayed the cities and geography but not more.
Sometimes backtracking can suck, especially if you walk all the way back from x to y through z, but don’t let it get you frustrated, it shouldn’t happen too often for the main story. Look at it as training, money farming and invitation to test for hidden paths you might have missed the first time. It’s always worth it.
Don’t expect to 100% the first time, stuff is really hidden well, but in a fair way. The game rewards experimenting by a good bit.
Enjoy and take your time. It’s my most favorite game ever.
Don’t be afraid to mess around with the class system and try out things beyond the default mono-elemental classes. There’s no penalty for changing your class setup every so often, or even after every fight
The second game has a secret dungeon that is unlocked by collecting all Djinns in both games. No Djinn is missable within their own game, but this obviously doesn't apply across games. You can miss 1 Djinn of each element in the first game and the second one will give you an opportunity to encounter them there to help you out, but that's the end of the leeway.
I probably won’t go for 100%. When specially trying / grinding for 100% on PS for trophies, it often burned me out of the games. So, now I only try that if I am REALLY enjoying the game, and even then if it start becoming frustrating I just leave it.
Luckily it isn’t a collectathon with hours and hours of junk scattered everywhere. Look up how many djinn there are before deciding if you don’t want to find them.
Stardew is a true labour of love. The dev is a good dude and one I’m happy to give my money (multiple times for different platforms and people, in my case).
Nintendo, Valve, and anyone else really has no excuse not to make the battery user accessible. The devices aren’t water resistant and never will be since they need active cooling. A back cover with sliding locks like a laptop that gives access to the battery as well as the fan would be a great addition to future devices. Easy to replace the battery, easy to clean or replace the fan. It would ease a lot of my own anxiety about the longevity of these devices.
You’re making me miss my PSP. Battery compartment easily accessible, I believe it took SD cards too. I modded mine too play other handheld systems like gameboy.
Can you not access the battery in the Steam Deck? I haven't opened mine up before.
I also haven't opened the Switch before either though. Is it not possible to just swap out batteries like you could on the DS and 3DS? I had to swap out my 3DS's battery a couple years ago when it ballooned and always just assumed it was an option on the Switch too if it ever happens there.
Edit: Just took a look at the iFixit video, that's a much more involved process than I was expecting. Hate that they used adhesive on the battery, and didn't even add a pull tab to get it out.
I was attracted by Yes, Your Grace, being at a very low price. Seems like a very good game, but I wasn’t sure I could handle the whole gestion thing. Looked very similar to Reigns.
Finished Final Fantasy XII, the story at least, today. Thinking Yakuza Like a Dragon might be next, but I do already have mid game saves on Kiwami 2 and Judgement I could jump back into…
I finished Pokemon Legends Arceus a few days ago. I started New Pokemon Snap and Temtem right away. Marvel’s Spider-man aside for when I need something more nervous.
I started Dead Cells because it came with PS Plus Extra (I think).
I played for three hours which I guess is a good sign. Actually my first run was probably unusually good. I picked up a fire blaster from a gold statue and that weapon pretty much one shot and burned everything up to the first boss, but I died in the next area.
My main gameplay complaint is fuck those bombs that explode into more bombs.
My other minor complaint is it’s a little too meta. I’ve already seen a bunch of obvious to blatant references to other indie video games, which detracts from its own world and identity a little.
I don’t know if I like it enough to keep playing. The areas can be pretty long. I made it past the second boss and into the castle area, and those enemies were just annoying. The clock tower was annoying enough. Even cheesing through them with repeated frost, I took a ton of damage from just a few enemies. So it is challenging, but I’m not sure how much I want to grind up to that skill level. I was sort of more frustrated / bored than having fun unfortunately. There are ten million things to unlock so maybe I’ll circle back to it at some point.
