I am very typical earthling. I like earth food and earth drink and earth sports and earth media. Im all about earth things because I am so typical and earthling. so typical as to be very boring and not worth investigating or looking into because I am definately from earth.

The Billionaire-Fueled Lobbying Group Behind the State Bills to Ban Basic Income Experiments in the U.S. (www.scottsantens.com)

The Foundation for Government Accountability was founded in Florida in 2011 by Tarren Bragdon after cutting his chops in Maine at the Maine Heritage Policy Center and then as adviser to Maine’s governor, LePage. It was in Maine where Bragdon and a cohort of fellow young conservatives gained a reputation for outrageous...

its funny to as its a libertarian concept to simply social assitance. Well old school real libertarian not the fud the party with the name throws around now.

Unlikely to happen but global warming and general environmental pollution is going on now. reduce, reuse, recycle

I thought this had been going on for awhile now with computers identifying potential targets:

"The object recognition algorithms are used to identify potential targets. Humans then operate weapons systems. The US has reportedly used the software to identify enemy rockets, missiles, drones, and militia facilities."

HubertManne,
HubertManne avatar

the human (really the military and government entity that employs them) who pulled the trigger not the computer that identified it. You see the human was just given a possible target but they did not actually need to fire.

HubertManne,

the humans not being removed. Didn't you read the quote I pasted from the article that you replied to in this chain??? I mean I went to the the trouble of reading the article and copying and pasting the relevant part. Im not saying im a hero but...

I could see a situation where logic and math classes were all that was needed because the ai could interpret the code for what the logic required was.

HubertManne,
HubertManne avatar

yeah this is what I mean though and took it to be what he meant. code itself becomes irrelevant. I know tons of people who take coding classes and students who ask if you need to learn math to code and are told no. I don't consider myself a coder because to me I script and I always move the goalpost for deciding when im really coding.

HubertManne,
HubertManne avatar

yeah to some degree. you would not get it if incarcerated or such but is it really more control than the economic system already inflicts on us? I don't think so.

my feeling is rather than making housing projects the government contracts with companies to provide a room, facilities, and a cafeteria somewhat like a college dorm if you had a single and that would be the amount of UBI. Folks can then sign up at one of those if they need to but they could also just get a roomate in a standard rental situation or whatever. Or they might make some money and afford something better. Keep in mind UBI is not just extra money all around. Someone like me who is doing alright would be paying as much in tax as I get back. But if I lose my job, or become disabled, or just need to retire. It would be there immediately. Obsiously folks like musk and bezos would pay way more in taxes than they would ever get back but they would still get it.

HubertManne,

the idea is to give individuals the ability to decide what to do with the monetary support they recieve and to reduce overhead on the cost of it all while making sure those who need to have it (since anyone who makes little enough to need it will not be paying tax at replacement level). Additionally having the government regulate companies/corporations that might be using it to make sure they meet quality standards.

HubertManne,
HubertManne avatar

100% agree here. There is so much fud about taxes but if you look at our history, especially since reagan. tax cuts result in a worse economy and raising them improves it a lot for the modest increases we had.

oh man. I did not realize the biden SS was doing this!!! I somehow thought this was happening from the actions of a completely different country. oh man total nazism from biden for sure /s /S lucifer J satan on a toothpick

If you ever want to give standing desk a try I prefer a setup with a high office chair rather than having a desk that goes up and down. Its cheaper and the higher chair gives you part of benefit of standing which is being able to get up and back to work quickly when grabbing food or such and when its so easy to get up and down you will find yourself standing more and more.

not where im from. third parties do decently in local races.

HubertManne,

local will effect local im afraid. I have been suffering under the worse of two evils half the time for the last several decades and very much prefere the lesser. Much would be different if deregulation had not happened along with lower taxes for wealthy along with gutting environmental regulations. etc

HubertManne,
HubertManne avatar

Im not waiting but im not sacrificing better in the hopes worse will lead to even better. Personally I far prefered biden, obama, over trump and I think your perspective would be a bit different if you experience bush, bush2, and reagan. ill take slightly better now over maybe somehow worse will get us to magically transform to way better.

HubertManne,

Im a moderate (for real but by todays standards am super left instead of left of center) so that would be going after myself. Youl would have more worth protecting if we had never went into iraq or had a better environment due to having regulation or a better standard of living if taxes were collected on those who can afford it rather than being squeezed out of anyone not dirt poor. Your life is the result of those who felt it was fine to let the right win over and over a gain. even the clinton period was dominated by gingrich.

HubertManne,

many efforts are to radical. Am I looking to get rid of capitalism. No. and if you think that type of thing is going to get a majority vote then your dreaming. But you know there are many many who want sensible regulation and for taxes to be collected. That is an achievable majority. I would love to get rid of first past the post and at least give that radicalism some voice so that can come out of the center.

Tesla-beating BYD and other Chinese carmakers using Mexico as back door poses ‘extinction-level’ threat to U.S. auto sector, warns trade group (fortune.com)

China has become a powerhouse in electric vehicles. Its automaker BYD recently topped Tesla in global EV sales, with Elon Musk warning of Chinese carmakers, “If there are no trade barriers established, they will pretty much demolish most other car companies in the world. They’re extremely good.”...

yes. thats the point. we would not have such a wide area of discount. Only whats truly local.

HubertManne,

It still encourages it as a variety of parts can be internal and thus cheaper. Just not the whole thing although honestly I don't see encouraging car manufacturing as an important part. It should be to encourage local commerce. As you said making a silicon foundry is expensive and we are now desperate to get them made here because our laws did not encourage it previously.

AIPAC Ally Slams “Uncommitted” Voters Warning Biden to Change Course on Gaza (theintercept.com)

Anti-war Michiganders are banding together in the crucial swing state to urge fellow voters to choose the “uncommitted” slot on their Democratic Party primary ballots next week, with the aim of getting President Joe Biden to shift his stance of unwavering support for Israel’s deadly assault on the Gaza Strip....

yeah because we are in a way better place with the 24 years of right we have had over the last 44 years instead of that aweful center we could have had. Al gore would have been a disaster if he won over bush junior and I don't even want to think of the horror of 4 more years carter would have brought.

center is not actively having troops help the genocidal state and the main issue with our immigration problem is status. We actually should be sending them to a centralized location for proessing that has a court running all day and all week to move their status through. The use of imprisoned, raped, and tortured are a stretch but certainly deportation can happen in many cases. That is certainly center. It would be way left to assume anyone seeking asylum would get the status.
