fringemagnet,

It's interesting to realise how much of the millennial experience involves having nostalgic memories of things that originated before you were born, or when you were too young to watch, because of how big of a thing reruns used to be.

fringemagnet,

One of my favourite parts of discussing old childhood shows is trying to explain "Button Moon" to people who aren't familiar with it and see the expression in their faces.

(Basically a British show of 10 minute episodes starring a family of kitchen utensils, with props and environments also made of kitchen utensils and tools, who owned a homemade rocket, which was actually an altered washing-up liquid bottle, and went on frequent adventure trips to the moon, which was a giant button).

@fringemagnet Surely that rocket is a Heinz Baked Beans tin rather than a washing up bottle.

Knitronomicon,

@penguin42 @fringemagnet Just what I was about to comment! With a funnel on top, and possibly a tin of tuna underneath.

@victor Haha yeah that checks! 😂

Not sure what the definition of "thing you experienced and thought was part of 'your era' but actually wasn't" is.

This post brought to you by finding out that Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends debuted in 1981, years before I even existed as a concept, all while being an integral part of my childhood due to reruns of cartoons running for years back in the day. 😅😁
