@GottaLaff@TomShafShafer From the outside world, it was clear that the state was his for the taking, given the propensity in the US to act based on custom and norms, instead of laws, the higher the elected position (President, Supreme Court Justice)
It’s been remarkable to see how these norms fall by the wayside and you’re still none the wiser.

@GottaLaff@TomShafShafer we’ve been seeing this level of disfunction in Congress for about a decade or so. It would’ve been great to solve some of issues that in hindsight were possible:
Federal legislation to enshrine abortion as a right.
A solution to the yearly debt ceiling quagmire.
I do hope for the Trump era to end, and that the gridlock in Congress gets sorted out.
The Constitution prohibits a president from accepting money, payments or gifts "of any kind whatever" from foreign governments and monarchs unless he obtains "the consent of the Congress" to do so.
The report notes Trump never went to Congress to seek consent.
Seems to me your position has little practical value.
It would be like a circular firing squad - everybody is dead at the end.
A possible method.
You need to assign blame points to every actor in this drama.
The further away people are from the original 'impact' the lower the number of blame points is.
□ Trump as the primary cause - 100 blame points.
□ Republicans enabling Trump - 80 blame points.
□ . . .
This establishes a more or less objective measure of guilt.

Didn't trump dramatically increase rates at his hotels after 2016? He also charged more for USSS to stay at his hotels. A lot more. I don't think there's anything 'consertavive' about it. Hypocrites.

When all along, the media was keenly aware of the Saudis owning an entire floor in Trump Tower and paying triple for rooms in the Post Office. Why now? 3.5 years after the crime, and yes it was a crime.

I remember “Emoluments” as one of the earliest war cries from #TheResistance on hellsite. So many of us were up in arms about Trump’s obvious grift & unconstitutional actions — another item in the long, long list of corruption & evil deeds for which we - and/or he - will never see real justice.

The GOP's selective focus on the relative peanuts received by Hunter (never a public official) while they ignore the $2bn received by Ivanka/Jared, or the millions by Trump, all while in office, demonstrates their absurdity on the corruption issue.

@GottaLaff It’s too bad there’s no provisions in the Constitution that would prevent such corruption of the presidency from both domestic and foreign money.
