@fkamiah17 has he even met any Surrey Greens? They've been busy picking up a load of the NIMBY voters the Tories have abandoned round here, so they're not exactly radical socialists lol
@girlabtvillage From what I've read (admittedly not the most recent manifesto), they're pretty standard, old definition left of centre. Only radical if you're an authoritarian or a fascist.
@fkamiah17 I work in a market town in rural Gloucestershire. A Tory heartland in the shires. I'm engaged with the local community and a small business owner. Like many other Green Party members in our district we stood for election and won 22 seats. We are now the largest group at Stroud District Council.
So, for Mandelson to say that “The Green Party is becoming a dustbin, a repository not only for climate activists, but for disgruntled hard leftists." makes me think that he is so far out of touch with the ethos of the Green Party and the concerns of the electorate that his opinion is completely irrelevant. Maybe it is Mr Mandelson who should be consigned to the dustbin of history?

I am always told you can judge a person by the company they keep. Fortunately, here in Wales we have two progressive parties, neither of which are HMG or HMLO.

@mbrmark@gruff Yeah, that's what I assumed, as one of the only things I knew about her was she's a godder. I can't imagine she's got a particularly enlightened view of abortion either.
@fkamiah17 As a former Green Party member and Labour member under Jeremy Corbyn I would have to agree with Peter Mandelson on this point.
This sort of politics isn’t relevant to the UK and I don’t want it taking the attention away from infrastructure, corruption and economics issues.
As an aside I also believe that nuclear energy and GMOs are crucial to our civilisation surviving the climate crisis so I would also disagree with the Green Party on scientific policy.
@hiroji_sergal Exactly which sort of politics is it you're claiming "isn't relevant to the UK" - choosing Greens as an alternative to a pro-genocide party, mainly through paucity of other options?
I don't know enough about the party's scientific policy (although I'm aware they're against nuclear energy, which even Lovelock has changed his mind about, so you've got a point there). As far as GMOs are concerned, I'll reserve judgement - I don't know any examples except Borlock where it's worked.
