@capnthommo @fkamiah17 Given that, I believe, many of them go in to politics for the "extras", second homes, paid for from the public purse, it's ridiculous, they're living in luxury and many people in the UK have to decide between heating and eating.

A taste of things to come in Scotland?

Spanish media are enthusiastically bigging up the 'historic' decline in support for independence parties in Catalunya, which is still at 44%/45% after yesterday's elections.

They're acting as if (1) it's done and dusted for Catalán independence; and (2) the sizeable pro-independence minority will be "pragmatic" and get back in its box.

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @Theriac Given that we have Tory/Labour coalition councils in Scotland, I expect Starmer to circumvent Holyrood and deal directly with those councils. They can't just close Holyrood but they can emasculate to the point where it's unnecessary....

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @urlyman I spend more time in the EU than I spend in the UK and what I see and hear daily is the incredulity at what the UK (England and Wales) has done to itself by leaving. Brexit has ensured that other EU countries will think long and hard and think again, before emulating "our" stupidity.

the most disappointing lesson I have learned in recent years is
the UK "system" is completely unfixable.
cos no-one in power is ever punished for fraud, lies or incompetence.
& they are never going to abolish the HOL or FPTP or do anything to diminish their own power & riches.
