What is your definition of a #VideoGames CONSOLE? What makes it a console, which traits does it need to have and which ones it should not have in order to be classified as a console?

I eg wouldn’t call the Apple TV a video game console even though it’s quite a capable one
And I wouldn’t call the Nintendo Switch Lite a video game console, I would call it a video game handheld (just like the Game Boy and 3DS were never consoles)
Steam Deck is a tricky one. I would say that it’s a handheld, not a console, as it’s primarily meant to be used in hand

-closed, you can only install/use software authorized by the manufacturer, no tinkering (in a bad way)
-easy to use: 1 button and it's ready to go, no tinkering (in a good way), 99.9% availability, ideally updates are done when not in use
-big simple interface accessible from a controller ad easy to read from afar on a tv
ps: lol, if i don't add "iT MuSt hAvE gAmEs" this is basically an infotainment system or a medical device
@realFedix@darth So if Valve launched a Steam OS device in a similar form factor as the Apple TV, then it wouldn’t count as a console as it wouldn’t be closed?
