From my basic understanding, it's kinda easy to pick a new instance, Im in Japan and use the Germany instance, where you are is not an issue.

But, if you want to see #trendinghashtags pertaining to Japan then, you need to have an instance in Japan

NOTE, I only use the Android basic #mastodonapp and never use a browser for Mastodon (but if I did I would use Firefox 🦊
