It already sucks. Any time I use Google for anything, I have to hope there will be an entry beyond the 800 shopping links for products I wasn’t interested in to begin with.
Honest question, what are you searching for on Google that it's not giving you what you wanted in the top few results? Every time I see Google search come up on kbin/lemmy, I just... don't have the same experiences as the commenters.
Their search can become better than DDG tomorrow just like it used to be a few years ago. All they need to do is rollback the enshitification patches. It’s not a matter of R&D, it’s a matter of the ad boss becoming the boss of search and optimizing it for ad revenue.
You know what I miss? I miss StumbleUpon, it turned up so many cool websites back in the early 2000’s and actually seemed to be good at recommending sites based on categories you subscribed to. I may have been a bit of a power user as I ended up on the top stumblers list one or two times. Those were definitely some of the good days of the Internet.
