@Jyoti Totally support that stance! I was thinking the other day that the way Letterboxd works is ripe for a Fediverse clone. Probably the only reason there isn’t one is they’re not evil (yet? 😢).
If you’re just looking for film info (cast and crew etc), a less awful alternative to IMDB is TVDB. They have an API* which means there are third-party apps on hand.
Although it’s still a company and of course Twitter and Reddit have shown us how much we can trust companies with third-party APIs.
