I think my AC might finally be fixed, on the second try, though I still get this big jolt of anxiety whenever I look at the thermostat.
I'm still feeling overwhelmed with the foster cats, and despairing that some of them will ever find homes. I'm trying to get a few of them into other foster arrangements — the ones I think would handle it best — but I'm not having a lot of luck there.
I've explained to the main rescue folks that they're going to need to take a few of these cats or they're going to be taking all the cats after sending our volunteer who's also an undertaker in to deal with me. They're understanding, but also, nobody's got space.
I want a house so I can do this shit without tenant stress. I want to feel like I ever could have a house. I want to feel like anyone in power is interested in fixing the problems of late-stage capitalism.
I'm in the middle of arranging a big cat evacuation this weekend so I can flea bomb because the AC going out caused an orgy, and I'm trying to do it with the least possible spectacle, and I'm just... I'm so sick of this shit. I just want to help. I just want to do good. The two women in charge of the rescue are helping so much but also I'm having a breakdown. We need more help. I need hope.
Those two cats who were adopted a couple years ago and came back last month because their person's new landlord changed his mind at the last minute pushed me over the edge of both how many cats I can deal with and how much moral outrage I could endure, and it's been a steep road to Severe Depressive Episode Town since then. Also that was the same week my gas was out, my water was out, and my AC broke, and I haven't quite recovered.

@seekingfreedom Thank you so much! I'm having to put Advantage II on, currently, 15 cats and 6 kittens, and it's hurting bad. The rescue will give me Revolution but these fleas are resistant to it.
@trixter Holy smokes that’s so much. Our A/C went out for a week last summer, and it was the worst thing ever. I get how it contributes to more fleas – for us it was mold, and it was such a pain to get everything back in working order and to feel secure about things again. Sending you my best, I really hope things ease for you soon ❤️❤️❤️
@seekingfreedom Thank you! The rescue is talking about doing a big push to get adults adopted, and hopefully that will help. 5 of the adults are mine, the rest are fosters.

@erosdiscordia@seekingfreedom I heard there were a lot of concerns about Seresto collars, though I also heard it might have been due to counterfeits. I could probably use them on my own but the head of the rescue might be wary because of that.
@erosdiscordia@seekingfreedom Thank you! We really need people willing to adopt not-quite-"perfect" cats like my Loki, who is a little bitey in his affections, but honestly we'd love people who are even just willing to adopt adults.
I think ultimately I'm so bent out of shape about all this because my neurodivergent brain does NOT do well with a situation where the Morally Right thing (helping lots of cats) is Against The Rules (because I'm renting), and this is because of Systemic Injustice (the housing crisis). It just turns into lots of internal screaming.
