I really do love travel, but I kind of just want one week when I do not have a half-packed suitcase and a pile of assorted dongles taking up my bedroom floor as a tripping hazard. Also I would like to fly business class one time so I can experience sleeping on a plane that doesn’t involve a red eye and sheer desperate exhaustion.
@hacks4pancakes I don't travel much anymore for work but when I did I was able to upgrade to business every few months from points accumulated in cattle class. Not an option for you?
@hacks4pancakes I decided a while ago that life is too short to travel coach. I changed jobs because I didn’t like the travel policy at the firm I was at. Way happier about travelling for work now but slightly concerned I am raising two weird kids who are going to get a huge shock when they have to pay for their own holiday travel.

Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways coach class is about as nice as most U.S. airlines business class; so maybe get a gig lecturing for a month at Carnegie Mellon Qatar?
For dongles etc., I love this elastic-pouch-board thingy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FD6D0I4/ (that I got for my partner, who never uses it). I think it comes in three sizes (but BezosCo is out of stock on the large size).
@hacks4pancakes The thing that used to bum me out when I was flying every week for work was the hotels. It’s like you are staying at the same building regardless of where in the country you are. It felt slightly maddening to see the same artwork even though I had flown from Chicago to Texas or whatever.
