(Fediverse survey post, asking people to click on a web link to a Mastodon post and say what their app does with it.)
UPDATE: Aaaarrgghhhhhhh! 😱 I had a number of people asking me for clarification of the poll, so I edited option wording, but this caused it to reset the responses to zero. I am so sorry! 🥴
The latest figures before I messed this up were this:
About 75% of people clicking on a link to a Mastodon post saw it displayed a normal post, 25% saw it displayed in a browser window.

I get a message asking me which of my accounts to open the status with or an emulation of an account on the instance in question. I'm using Subway Tooter.
@feditips The joy of the fediverse is that it is still mostly human - in the best way. You can run a biggish account, and still be a human being, not an anonymous corporate machine.

@feditips this is actually not a bug. When you edit a poll option or the post containing a poll, you can make people vote for the opposite of what they actually voted for.
I meant that the votes would still be removed. So there would be no incentive to manipulate the poll. But the voters would be warned that: "hey, the poll you voted on previously has been changed – do you want to vote again?"
@feditips Related? As a voter I’ve sometimes seen long, wordy options that are truncated on mobile before I can see what differentiates one from another. There’s no way I know of to inspect the full text of the label. Maybe some clever person could make that enhancement? It actually stands to reason; people often find after they publish a poll that they could have worded a question or option better, then try, then discover that the meaning of the question or option now takes on a new defining intent - that's unacceptable manipulation, whether intentional or not.
When you start a DM, #Mitra won't let you add/remove addressees; last time I checked, mastodon will - it shouldn't that's a potential breech of privacy & security.
@feditips for me, it opens a browser page within the app. i'm not sure of the significance of that, or what category in the poll it belongs to. i put down "other" since i wasn't quite sure which to put.
@feditips It opens as a normal post on the app but with a small difference: before showing the post of the link a message appears at the bottom that says "performing a lookup...".
I'm using Tusky.
@feditips it is an app on F-Droid that registers link handlers on android for pretty much all known mastodon instances and redirects them to your chosen app when you click them from anywhere within android. (Think a link shared over discord or some other social media)

Using Megalodon. Opens like a normal post with a second or two of delay, and a small pop-up with the option to open in a browser. If you leave it alone it loads the post.
