I don't like to waste a lot of time exercising so I started doing pushups at work when I'm in remote parts of the factory.
Trouble is my shoulders are starting to hurt again. I stopped once before to let them heal. I've checked and my technique seems correct. Any ideas? Should I work through the pain? Or just give up before I mess myself up? This is not my area of expertise.

    Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to back off for now. I still walk a helluva lot. That should be enough.

    @Malleus

    don't do it! if it hurts, stop and rest, ice, elevate and compress!

    i ignored my shoulder pain while spinning last year and i ended up having to do 6 months of physical therapy to avoid a rotator cuff injury.

    better safe than sorry!

    i would definitely look into physical therapy exercises or treatment for your shoulders, tho. maybe do something more gentle than pushups.

    @Malleus Since you say factory, have you done a lot of repetitive hands above shoulders type of work? Have you noticed range of motion problems? Or is it more stiffness. I would suggest visiting a doc because depending on how it feels, it could be anything from a torn rotator cuff to osteoarthritis. While I’m not a doc or nurse, I am a medical professional who worked mainly in orthopedics and since it sounds chronic, checking it out would be best. Until then, rest.

    Feel better soon.

    Foxside,

    @Malleus it depends on what kind of pain you're experiencing. What does it feel like? Is it negatively impacting your range of motion? And is it located entirely in the shoulders, or radiating elsewhere?

    Caveat: not a medical professional, but I was once an athlete and fighter. I've also been through enough physical therapy over the years that I should have an honorary degree.
