More and more, I'm coming to believe that money is the problem with everything. Everything around us is about money. Nearly everything would be better if we weren't constrained by the need for some people to make a profit. There are almost no public spaces anywhere that aren't, sooner or later, about money.
@rbreich overturning Citizens United is unbelievably paramount to fixing democracy and we need to make buying elections/using money to garner political favor should be a LIFE SENTENCE. No parole or time off and absolutely no right to vote or contribute to anything political ever again.

Rich people use their power (money) to buy media, economy, politics.
They push for policies/spread lies that make them even richer.
4.) They use the new money to oust competition and gather more money (power).
It's not even a question of the underlying political system since you see the same developments in autocracies.
Funnily Marx's idea seemed to be to let this spiral to continue to its extreme and then simply disown the few remaining rich capitalists for the sake of also benefitting from the advancements of capitalistic societies. Another fact why countries like China or USSR have never been real communist states.
But yeah, unless the world abolishes capitalism and replaces it with a nature-friendly, socially equal system, this civilization won't last that much longer.
Money is evil, and was created by the higher class in order to concrete their status as an upper class "member". The one who controls the money, controls the world.
@rbreich Yes Sir !! This is FACT !! And while we’re all trying to get our share of the pie BACK ….. we have disastrous news from scientists. Thank you for your commentary Mr. Reich , I always look for it and if anyone is looking for the TRUTH and/or an opinion that maybe questionable, look no further. @rbreich sadly true of many democracies including UK. The power of donors to lobby for self interest is self evident from the ultra-processed food on supermarket shelves, to the vaping products children now use and the powers landlords have over their tenants.
@rbreich “get big money out of politics” is a quaint idea . How does that happens when ALL politicians need big money to get elected? It’s the whole system. Systems don’t change themselves. They have to meltdown first.
