So little #bone and so much air! When CT-scanning #birds, you can clearly see the air-filled bones that make them so light. The outer layer (cortex) of the #skull is only half a millimeter thin!
This #CT-scan of a Java finch (Lonchura oryzivora) is part of my #PhD data and was done at the DynXLab (@dynxlab) at the University of Antwerp.
