@fkamiah17 the USA can go to hell. The trigger happy meddlers should be chased from every country. The USA has a long history of rigging polls, supporting military coups, channeling funds and spreading political propaganda in other countries for their own gain and it’s about time the world treated them no differently than Russia. This U.S. obsession with meddling in other countries seriously jeopardises world peace.
@localzuk I don't know if you've seen any of the "commentators" and the pieces they publish in recent years, but trust me, this is one of the most sane and rational of them.
@fkamiah17 I’m seeing quite a bit of this. Lindsay Graham is pressuring the US to do the same. We will be at war with Iran, obvs.. Because that is what they want, obvs..
Just one of the many things to fuck us up in 2024.
@PaulNickson The US has been itching for a war with Iran (which, of course, benefits Israel hugely) for decades - it was the primary reason for ditching the JCPOA.
Unless this current ceasefire plan in Gaza works (and I don't think it will, because Netanyahu knows he's going straight to The Hague as soon as he stops), I fear that Iran, Lebanon, Libya, and Syria will all be pulled into it, and Yemen will continue its attacks in the Red Sea.
Don't forget Grandpa already bombed Iraq two days ago.
@PaulNickson And don't forget the genocide currently going on in Sudan, which has an 800-mile border with Egypt, which has a border with ... Gaza.
Currently resisting the urge to have a post-lunch whisky.
@fkamiah17 This is all very depressing isnt it. The Middle-East is a powder keg and Russia are stocking the flames. A lot of arms manufacturers are making a killing(!) but what about us? Has it occurred to anyone what we the plebs want?
@PaulNickson I'm thinking of stashing it somewhere behind a load of stuff that would be a pain in the arse to move, just to find out whether my innate laziness and desire to avoid faffing will save my liver/bank balance 😁
@fkamiah17 That would work for me .. up to a point. There will come a time however when desire for release from the world’s nasties supersedes the laziness (which for me is profound).
@PaulNickson In that sense my laziness works in my favour - the whisky's in the pantry, which is the farthest point from my desk, so my "oh, I'll do that in a minute" mode de vivre means it stays there more often than not 🤣
@fkamiah17 That’s good then. Not sure it would work successfully for me but it would slow me down. I dehydrate because I can’t be arsed to get some water.
@PaulNickson Ah, that's one thing I am good at - I've got carafes and amphorae in every room!
I really want to watch the final episode of Slow Horses but I fear the bottle of whisky permanently on Jackson's desk will destroy my willpower.
@fkamiah17 I do that too! Currently for me it’s 19.00 when we peel our fat arses off the couch to go and make dinner. If I ever started earlier than that I’d be in big trouble. The hangovers …
@PaulNickson A friend of mine bought a small decanter to prevent overindulgence, which worked for him if he put the rest of the bottle in his shed for the rest of the night.
@MaJ1@PaulNickson@PlaystationPixy Paul is engaged in a circular argument which allows him to maintain his current intake both of whisky and cake.
Can't say I blame him 😂
@MaJ1@PaulNickson Ha! Your stealth ice-cream stealing tactics have failed 😂
Agreed on Strawberry Cheesecake, it's pretty much the only one I ever eat. 🤤
@fkamiah17 Yeah … There’s still that willpower thing though. I get very ‘clumsy’ when I’m measuring out nice things. Eyes bigger than the stomach sort of thing.
@MaJ1@PaulNickson What worries me, Tim, is that we're only scratching the surface of how nuts it can get. 😔
Hope you had a lovely Christmas! Have you exhausted your winter stash of acorns yet?
@MaJ1@fkamiah17 War with Iran has been in ‘the schedule’ for a while now it seems. There’s too much sabre-rattling going on for it to be anything else. The inevitability of it is what annoys me so much. No diplomacy. More like ‘Who are we going to have a war with today?’. ‘Isn’t this fun’ etc..
Is this part of ‘The Great Reset’ we’ve been hearing about?!
@PaulNickson@MaJ1 I'm curious - and by curious I mean terrified - about how things will develop in Libya (a failed state run by warlords) and Syria (which has a massive border with Turkey and an ongoing guerilla war with the Kurdish YPG) if (or more likely when) they get pulled into this shitshow.
All the fun of the fair.
