It all starts by being able to think independently as a person, being critical and having learned enough in life to be able to get that attitude.
And not simply accept what others think is the truth...
That insight does not come by itself. Critical thinking needs to be taught...
It is very simple to influence, manipulate people that are a blank slate, young, uneducated, or not so very bright (easily manipulated), they just have no framework (yet)...
I was always fortunate enough to find my heroes in science from a young age, simply out of interest... trying to see the overall picture and zooming on the details...
