I often wondered about the origin of the language construct 'myself and some other people did something'. Why use 'myself' when the perfectly good first person pronoun 'I' would do? Why not just say 'some other people and I did something'? The 'myself' construct seems very awkward and I find it grating. Sounds like someone trying to sound formal/educated but not grokking grammar...
