There is a lot of miss information going around in the blind iPhone group on Facebook. Some people are saying if you're totally blind you can't set up face ID on your own. They are saying you need sighted help. This is not true. Other people are saying that the new stolen device protection mode is not worth using. They are basically saying because you have to use face ID or your fingerprint to validate some features that it would be too much trouble for a totally blind person to use.
@rowdyamerican@mastoblind this is why I avoid blind facebook groups, not once found one that was helpful, many were toxic, and all of them echo chambers of bad.
@rowdyamerican I am deafblind, and I have set up Face ID all by myself many times! I don't understand this hysteria in the blind community about Face ID.
@TSchulte@NightDrake@rowdyamerican@Pawpower I'd be interested in knowing who is saying this misinformation about face ID. I've never had a problem setting it up, and I use it every day with minimal issues. It's unfortunate that people are spreading misinformation like that.
@TSchulte@5021_strong@cary5871@NightDrake@rowdyamerican This started when apple announced the Face ID feature and there was a great outcry amongst blind people about it, and when I asked with all sincerity what the issue was, because every blind person I had met had a face, i was told I was rude. Ever since there has been a lot of blind whining about Face ID and why can't we stick to the finger thing.

Windows xp was awesome, then windows 7 comes out, and all the blind folks got up in arms because oh it's going to be so haaaaaard, and why can't we just stick with xp? and then windows 10, and the very same thing happens, and now we're up to windows 11, and still some blind folks whine about it being too haaaaaard. You have to be able to go with the flow when it comes to technology, or you'll be stuck in the past and wondering why all your old tech no longer works. lol. I'm thinking particularly about one person in particular who still has a windows xp computer, like seriously, what the hell. get with the times. lol
