Ulrich_the_Elder, In 1957 my dad bought 3 acres and a small house. His mortgage payment was $8/month. In 1960 my dad sold 1/3 acre for $1500, in 1970 he sold another 1/3 acre for $10,000. The mortgage was now paid off. He retired in 1969 and his wage was just under $2/hr. He was the only wage earner in the home. It was normal for a person working one job to have all the things, a house a car and put his kids through college on just under $2/hr. The only reason it is still not like this is greed. GREED.
